Unahotels Naxos Beach Sicilia

UNAHOTELS Naxos Beach Sicilia is in the village of Giardini Naxos in Sicily, with views of Mount Etna, and a short drive from the popular historical town of Taormina. Its buildings are surrounded by a garden area, and the hotel's own beach is steps away. The garden is dotted with both sunny and shady spots, so you can sit and relax with a drink and snack or enjoy soaking up the rays. There are two main outdoor pools and two shallower pools for kids, with one small water slide. The hotel has a beach bar and pool bar, both of which open during the day and serve snacks, pizza and burgers, as well as local and international drinks. The cocktail bar opens in the evenings and when there's a disco. There are two a la carte restaurants with outdoor seating for an al fresco meal. One is open for lunch and dinner and specialises in local seafood, while the other, an a la carte pizzeria, opens two days a week. During the summer the tennis courts are open; if you're keen to learn, you can hire an instructor. The hotel provides daytime and evening entertainment, which can be live shows or karaoke. During the day there are activities such as volleyball and yoga, and children and teens can join the hotel's kids' clubs, which organise games. There's an outdoor playground and indoor playroom for younger children. For adventurous types there's a PADI diving centre at the hotel. You can also book a massage if relaxation's what you're after.

The hotel beach is an expanse of sand-and-shingle, 100m from the hotel, with access via a boardwalk. Across the street there's a fresh food market to stock up on essentials. Giardini Naxos is the nearest town, 2km away. It's small and friendly, with plenty of beach-view restaurants serving seafood and places to enjoy a drink. It has a beach with a promenade, and several boat trips and excursions start from here. At the southern end of town, you can get a taste of the history of the area at the archaeological park and museum. There's also the small, partially restored SchisÚ Castle. The nightlife in Giardini Naxos is bustling, with bars and a few clubs. Most of these are along the promenade behind the beach, so you can have a view of the sea while you enjoy the evening. It's also possible to take a bus along the coast to Taormina during the day.

The hotel has four bars and one buffet restaurants offering international and Italian cuisine. One buffet restaurant is open for three meals per day, while the other opens for breakfast and dinner. There's also a kids' buffet option at lunch and dinnertime. Alternatively, you could dine at one of the ‡ la carte restaurants.

If you like to keep active on holiday, you can use the hotel's gym or take part in fitness classes. You can also play boules or darts.

Rooms at Una Hotels Naxos Beach all have a balcony or terrace. There's also Wi-Fi in rooms in the main building, satellite TV channels and air conditioning in each room.

Sleep Quality

This hotel is for you…if you miss the 80s.

The Una Hotels Naxos Beach hotel is stuck in the 1980s. The customer service was good and the grounds of the hotel are well-maintained. The hotel is in need of an overhaul. The furniture and decor are very much from the era of Miami Vice. The main restaurant served great food, but the average age of guests seemed to be at least 65. I loved the location of the hotel, with views of the Mediterranean and Mt. Etna, you can’t go wrong. I would stay at this hotel again only because of its proximity to the Sea Spirit Diving resort.

Excellent service

We came during the set up for the ‘season’. But what a beautiful little place. Will definitely look to come back here in the future. The service at the bars was good but during the all inclusive meals the staff for catering were exceptional. So welcoming and any queries or questions they were happy to help, Nunzio was constantly checking up on us and even stopped to have a conversation even when service was busy. Thank you Nunzio

Pleasant holiday

Mixed feelings for this hotel. The rooms were comfortable and clean and toiletries replaced when needed. However, they have a problem with pigeons and had to complain as the mess made it slightly unpleasant to sit on the terrace but although cleaned was just the same a while later. They do have lovely grounds and pools and a gym. The food was of a good quality. They have a private beach area and you have to pay to use beds and parasols. There is no promenade but a walk of about 20 mins takes you to the seafront at Giardini Naxos. A bus stop approx 5-10 mins enables you to explore and most journeys are 3 Euros return. I would highly recommend Taormina and from there Castelmola. Would I go back, not to this hotel or area but would try another area in Sicily but that is personal choice.
