Fantastic and highly recommended !
We went 23-29th October 2022, super pleased with everything, it was end of the season so you can expect not everything would be fully functioning, but it was still a nice surprise to see the animation/ entertaining team, what a positive bunch of people, Michele, Yelenya, Irene, Pierro, Filippe and others, them and the food was the highlight of the week! (breakfasts not very specials, but dinners were fantastic, every night somethign different, very high quality of food, lamb, veal, delicious pastas and pizza , separate restaurant with pizza only, even now out of season, you just need to book in advance) . Weather was fantastic. Everyone will find something for themselves there, in the full season they have parties at the pool, foam parties etc. At this time of the season still mini discos for kids, live music in the piano bar, shows and quiz nights. A great choice for familieis!
Better than other reviews made out
I don't tend to leave reviews but after being quite nervous before visiting (based on other reviews on here) I can honestly say I was pleasantly surprised and would like other people to actually consider this place as we had an amazing family holiday here and we would definitely return. On arrival, we were lead straight to the dining hall which made the whole check in much more relaxed and easy, no queues or craziness, etc. Once checked in, we were relieved after a 2 hour transfer, to get to our room. My first impression of the corridors (floor 6) was that it didn't feel very welcoming, but dark grey is in fashion at the moment so I guess it was just to modernize it- by the last day, I had actually grown to quite like it. It was a very airy and fresh feeling hotel. Our room was great- mini fridge- lovely shower- nice balcony space but quite scary to look down! The bed was uncomfortable and on the last day when we checked under the bed it clearly hadn't been cleaned in months. The hairdryer wasn't very strong- but we weren't there for that so I feel I'm being a little harsh- But I just like to be as honest as I can be. Unfortunately, for me, the food was a little disappointing at this hotel and there wasn't a lot of choice. Being a vegetarian meant I had to inspect each dish as it wasn't always obvious what food contained any meat. I found pizza on one night and was just about to tuck in when I noticed some meat inside- which was hidden by the cheese and there was absolutely no indication that it would have meat in. Also, it became quite samey after the first few days (Plain pasta, chips, salad) My husband was looking forward to trying some unusual Sicilian dishes but there was never much of an option. They had a Sicilian evening which was cool to watch. It was also a little annoying only being able to have one bottle of water with dinner (and wine but boring me again- don't drink :D ) We found it quite a little cheeky that on the last day, a 'tip' envelope was placed on our table. Is it normal to tip staff who are paid to clear away tables? With money problems for everyone as it is, I felt it was a little unnecessary- They probably earn more than I do! When we didn't leave a tip, I felt the atmosphere change, but this could just be me! Breakfast was very much the same and I could have easily skipped it. Another problem, for me, was the timings. Breakfast is 7:30- 9:30 which - on a normal working day is fine- when I'm on holiday I don't want to feel rushed to wake up, get ready and go down to eat. Also, the dinner didn't start until 7:30pm- as a family friendly hotel, this could be earlier? Just my opinion though. The hotel itself is beautiful. We were fortunate that at the start of the week, there were very few guests so again this has skewed our experience a little as I can just imagine how crazy it could be if it was busy. The dining hall is a big space, but not all that many food stations so whenever you headed somewhere, it was guaranteed someone else would be too (and that was with a limited amount of people) Also, nobody takes any notice of queues here (even the Brits!) so be prepared to almost not be able to get on a bus because grown men made sure they were getting on the bus before a little girl who had been waiting longer. The views were stunning and the sunsets were some of the best I've ever seen. Unfortunately, there were a lot of bonfires in the distance which ruined it - unless you enjoy breathing that in. Thankfully, the majority of guests had the decency and respect not to smoke around the sunbed areas (because not everyone wants their children polluting their lungs with second hand smoke!) But there were a few times we had to leave hastily because of this. (I understand the rules in Italy are different BUT British people know it's not acceptable at home, so why do it here just because you can? Sheer selfishness). The pools were freezing. But, as usual, once in, it became bearable. I guess it would have been more enjoyable if they were a little warmer. We only went to the beach a couple of times and it was nice enough- being the end of season meant we didn't really explore it as much as we could have done though. We visited ETNA which was amazing and I'd highly recommend. We also took the train from Cefalu into Palermo but this was a very disappointing trip. We enjoyed the shuttle bus into Cefalu but the times were very hit and miss and it was quite stressful being told to wait somewhere by the driver, and then later almost missing it as it parked up elsewhere. Was also late quite a bit. Overall, we had the best family break. The entertainment staff are perfect. My children were so in love with them! They made such a fuss of my little girls birthday and were always smiling and welcoming. They are all fantastic and have made my 3 star into a 4 star! Thanks Guys! Overall- I would definitely recommend a visit. I'm back home now and miss just being there and being relaxed.
Outstandingly beautiful Italian hotel and holiday!
We arrived here on 1st oct 2022 and I have to say, it was one of the best holidays we have ever had!! The hotel was beautiful and spotless throughout (including the rooms and pools), we can honestly say we have nothing to complain about. We went half board, which was perfect for us, as you still get to experience the beautiful surrounding areas. The food in an evening was lovely, fresh fish, meat and pasta! Breakfast has a very very large selection too! We also had the option to change our dinner to lunch, which was also fantastic!! The drinks were brilliant!!! Cocktails all €6!! Highly recommend the mojito and (of course) aperol soritz! You get a wrist band when you check in, which you are able to load with money for your stay, this is then used to buy drinks at the bar… brilliant idea, as it means you don’t have to carry money with you everywhere. The hotel felt very safe too, if we had children, we would definitely bring them here. The staff were so lovely and welcoming. They always tried our best to speak to us, we didn’t face any issues with the staff and they always helped and understood us! Their English is obviously broken, but we don’t visit a foreign country and expect them to speak fluent English!!! There are regular shuttles to and from the hotel to the beach and Cefalù. The Cefalu shuttle is about €4 each return, it stops right outside the main doors and drops you at the train station, it is under a 10 minute walk into the centre. The beach shuttle is free and takes you to the hotels private beach. Cefalu itself is a beautiful beautiful place with outstanding bars and restaurants!!!! You will be spoilt for choice!!!! There are some real hidden gems with spectacular views!! Make sure to explore the town, go off the beaten track and visit the Duomo. We also booked a vineyard tour through jet2, it was fantastic and well worth the money. We visited Palermo for the day, just jumped on a train from Cefalu, which was around €13 each. Palermo is a very very busy city, but very beautiful and definitely worth a visit!! The only thing to bear in mind is the transfer, it is a 2 hour 30 min transfer from the airport, it’s long, but worth it!!!!! PLEASE IGNORE THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS!!!!! Thank you Costa Verde, we will be back!!!
