Exactly what I needed!
Hotel Alessandrino was perfect for my first solo holiday abroad. The hotel itself was not plush or extravagant, but it completely suited my needs. With so much to do in Rome, I was out of the hotel early in the morning and did not return until late but the hotel had everything I needed and proved to be excellent value. The staff were welcoming, accommodating and knowledgeable, and provided me with good recommendations. Without doubt, my favourite element of this hotel was it's roof terrace. Every night I bought a beer from the bar and headed up to the roof - with a view of St. Peter's Basilica. It was remarkably peaceful and tranquil, and proved to be the perfect way to end every day that I spent in the Eternal City! If you are planning to spend more time exploring the city as opposed to spending time in a hotel, I think that Hotel Alessandrino is an option that should be considered!
City break in Rome
I booked this hotel for 3 nights as it was one of Easyjets suggested hotels included within their city break package deal.... We ended up staying for a further 4 nights as our passports had been stolen whilst having dinner one evening near the Trevi Fountain. This hotel were very accommodating and even allowed us to stay in the same room whilst we arranged the Emergency Travel Documents at the Embassy. The hotel itself is lovely and clean, staff were helpful and friendly. Upon check-in, the hotel receptionist pointed out the main attractions to see on a printed map located on the desk. He circled the hotels location from the city which was helpful so that we knew exactly where to head back to. The hotel is approx 2 miles from the city centre, so if you don't mind a walk into the city then this hotel would be ideal, you can also hire bikes and cycle into the city as an alternative.. or.. pay for an Uber Scooter, there are plenty of scooters about and are very popular with tourists. My partner and i regularly hired an electric scooter and made our way in and out of the city as it was alot quicker and fun, taking around 15 minutes... Walking took appropriately 40/50 minutes. Sadly breakfast was not an option at the hotel, so we decided to eat in the city. There is not much around the hotel apart from flats and the odd pub/shop... as you walk into the city, the area not only looks more picturesque but there is alot more choices for restaurants and shops. Our double room was nice and spacious, plenty of room for two people. The shower was hot and powerful which certainly made me happy! Overall i thoroughly enjoyed staying at this hotel and would return, just want to highlight for others that this is not a hotel located within the city centre, and like most city breaks, plenty of walking is often done throughout the day, so something to be mindful off. As i mentioned at the start of this review... Our passports were sadly stolen so try and keep your valuables safe and be mindful of theifs.. Especially near the Trevi Fountain. Rome is a beautiful city.. Plenty to see and do, i cannot wait to return.
Average hotel
Pros: - Clean room - Small fridge with free bottles of water - Small safe inside the closet - Quiet area - Staff speaks English Cons: - In need of renovation; bathroom door in 105 doesn't close properly. - No kettle, tea nor coffee in the room - Booked hotel via Easyjet Holidays and there was absolutely no mention that we would have to pay City Tax at check-out. Staff had plenty of opportunity to tell us this on arrival and throughout the stay, but we were only informed upon checkout when waiting for airport transfer. This is not professional. The tax charge should've been made clear when booking so the customer knows in advance what the full cost of the stay is going to be. We were charged 4€ per person per night = 32€ total.
