Chiesa Di San Benedetto Italy

Explore Limone's historic church when you visit the Chiesa di San Benedetto. Found in the northern part of town off the Via Monsignor Daniele Comboni, the church is just steps from the edge of Lake Garda. The Chiesa di San Benedetto is Limone's parish church, so there are regular services if you're looking for somewhere to attend while you're away. It's also a beautiful spot perfect for your sightseeing tour of Limone, thanks to the incredible scenery that you'll find. Arriving at the church, cast your eyes out across Lake Garda towards the lush mountains that surround the water. Then make your way inside the old building to start learning more about the Chiesa di San Benedetto's past. The church was built towards the end of the 17th century, but it actually stands on top of the ruins of an ancient Romanesque basilica. There are 15th century paintings that decorate the interior by the appropriately named Andrea Celesti, whose name derives from the Latin word for ”heavenly'. Wander through the extravagant church to see things like the ornate altar and a crucifix made from yellow marble. Take a seat on one of the pews and gaze up at the skilfully crafted statues and marble colonnades that rise up behind the altar. Pause for a quiet moment before making your way back outside into the sunshine. There's a number of little cafes and restaurants close to the Chiesa di San Benedetto. Sit down for a coffee or refreshing cold drink on the terrace under the church as you plan your next activity in Limone. Make your way to the Chiesa San Rocco, or have a go at kitesurfing with Wind Riders.
