A delightful Hotel spoiled by poor food quality.

This is a wonderful hotel in a lovely location. The staff, service and ambience are first class. The whole experience was let down by the very poor quality of the food at Dinner. On a 10 day stay the first 5 days main course was virtually inedible. There were very many complaints and there was a great improvement on days 6 and 7. Day 8 was a disaster, duck breast was served virtually raw, there were so many sent back it was an embarrassment. How a Chef in a top class hotel can allow such dishes to leave the kitchen is inconceivable. It is a tragedy that such and old an loved hotel can lose it’s reputation over such a simply remedied issue.

We first stayed here 5 years ago. we have just returned and found the hotel to be as good as it was then with friendly and helpful staff. However, unlike 5 years ago the quality of the food was most disappointing and not anywhere near the standard one might have expected of a four star hotel. The breakfast was poor with the hot food being anything but hot. Evening meals were always appalling, the pasta course being inedible and the main course having underdone potatoes and reheated vegetables. All the meat was inferior. Perhaps reps from the tour companies should visit to see for themselves. A very poor culinary experience at a high price for half board. When we ate out at local restaurants rather than at the hotel, the difference in standards was obvious as well as the prices being significantly lower. Dot & Tony Ormskirk

Not one for leaving reviews or complaining, however ……Booked 7 nights half board here with Jet2. Hotel with lots of old world charm but the food served in the restaurant is unbelievably awful. Complained to the hotel and after 2 nights refused to eat in the restaurant asking to downgrade our stay to B&B (Breakfast ain’t great either! -hot food consistently cold) No refund from hotel stating we have to deal with Jet2. Never seen a jet2 rep yet. Lots of people complaining about the food many who’ve been coming here for years say they’ll not come back purely because of the quality of the food. Nice hotel lovely location but that’s it.
