This enchanting establishment in Reykjavik is in a prime location, close to a wide choice of shopping venues, restaurants and cafés. Also nearby are numerous museums, including the National Museum of Iceland, educating visitors on the history of the island from settlement to the present day. If being inside isn’t your thing, whale watching trips depart nearby. The friendly staff on the hotel’s 24-hour front desk will be happy to assist with recommendations and booking excursions. This could include a trip to see the glaciers, northern lights or the stunning blue lagoon with its geothermal seawater.
Scandinavian is the hotel’s bar and restaurant offering Icelandic and Nordic specialities. If you want to choose from a menu offering a wide range of seafoods like salmon, herring, shrimp, squid and plaice, you’re in the right place. You don’t have to become pescatarian while you stay here though, as delicious meat dishes made with lamb and chicken will also be available. For dessert, you might choose to enjoy a proper Icelandic yogurt made with blueberries, crushed almond cookies and whipped cream. Hearty breakfasts are also served here from 06:30 to 09:30. If you’re leaving early, or maybe returning from a night out very late, the hotel offers an early breakfast service on request.
Rooms are equipped with wifi, a safe, minibar, satellite TV and a hairdryer. Studios are fitted with a kitchenette, while Deluxe Studios additionally have a sofa, which can also be used as a third bed. If you don’t want to take your computer on holiday with you, then it is possible to loan one at the hotel.

Great room over looking the street
We really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Fron. Our room was large and had a small balcony over looking the street below. Everywhere was very clean. The breakfast buffet was good with sufficient choice. We also had a couple of meals in the attached restaurant and we can highly recommend the fish of the day. The hotel is very central with many of Reykjavik's attractions in walking distance from the hotel. The street can be noisy in the evenings but this did not really bother us.
Not recommended for families with rental cars - noisy and not easy parking
I booked this hotel in advance due to it offering 2 bedrooms for sleeping and onsite parking because we were travelling with two 3 year olds. Before booking, I confirmed the rooms had doors that could be closed and the parking onsite was available. I was told that parking spots could not be reserved so far out, so I needed to check back sooner to my travel date. Checking back a month before travel, I was told there was no parking available, but not to worry because parking is free downtown from 18:00 - 9:00 the next day. That sounded ok. This was our first time in Iceland and finding open parking after 18:00 is not easy. And finding an open spot near the hotel is not easy either. Also, you have to move your car in the morning, or make sure you start paying for street parking. While that would be still ok, what really upset me with the hotel was the different story I would get from each person I talked to about parking. When I booked, I was told I could get a parking spot. When I checked back in to ask for one, I was told nothing was available. Our first night here, I checked again because after hauling our luggage to the hotel with two toddlers 1km to our street parking is not an easy chore when you have e-scooters buzzing past you and/or cars and buses to worry about. The front desk person checked and said there would be a spot opening up for our second and last night. He took down our info and said we needed to get the access key from the daytime clerk. The next day when I went to the front desk, that person acted like there was no note and said there wasn't parking and it would cost me if I would get one. Total frustration when it seems like every other person I talk to acts like parking is available and seems to offer it... and then the next person tells me no. So morale of the story, don't believe they offer parking here until your car is actually parked in a spot. The large room we got shares walls with a club/bar that plays thumping dance music late into the night. Not a great place to get some rest for a family. And I think their website boasts room darkening curtains which was another thing my wife wanted to make sure we got, since we were travelling in July with sunsets after 11pm and sunrises before 4. I'm not sure what other hotels offer, but window blinds and curtains that don't even reach the walls does not do the job of darkening. And I just changed my rating because I realized the pictures on their website do not match the below average quality of the room we were given. I can't recommend bringing young families because while the room/accommodation is a good size and layout, the location of the hotel and the lack of parking is not worth the hassle. And the large room we got is way noisier and too bright in summer time. I made a bad decision by choosing this place and I hope to save someone else the bad experience in advance.
Good location but very noisy
The location is great - right on Langavegur you're out the door and within walking distance to most of the 'must do' things in Reykjavik. The hotel was incredibly noisy though, we were actually in one of the rooms outside of the main building but we could hear people coming in at night, banging doors, the staff doing stuff early on a morning... so not very restful. Breakfast had a limited selection and wasn't very good. Overall staying here was fine but I'd probably look for something nicer next time.
