Great location in the city centre

Jan 2022 | Elinamic
We stayed at Hotel Fron for 3 nights and we really liked its central location. Many of the city's cafes, restaurants and museums are within walking distance while it is only a 20-25 minute walk from the bus station serving the airport. Our room was clean and it even had a small kitchenette. We had a room at the building not facing the main road so we didn't experience any noise. However, what we noticed was that the watering in the bathroom had a smelly feel. Inside the room, there was also a table with two chairs which took the majority of the space and we had to move it to make room for our luggage. The breakfast was decent with some variety of items, and even though during our first morning there we had a nice experience, on the second day it was different. The restrictions when we visited asked people to keep a 2 meters distance inside or wear a mask if unable to do so. The breakfast area that morning was full of people and nobody from the staff asked anybody to wear a mask, keep a distance or use hand sanitiser before touching the common utensils from the breakfast buffet. The tables were very tight and people were right above our heads queuing to get breakfast while we were trying to eat.

Central location near the nightlife

The location is good for couples, as the bars and nightlife are around you. Not so good if you are looking for peace and quiet. We were unlucky to have some noisy folks, who had obviously had a good time, keep us up awake in the block that sits at the back of the hotel until late. We were then moved to the main hotel block after a poor person was locked out of their room accidentally whilst drunk and banged on their door for quite a while in the early hours. The hotel were good in facilitating our move of room. The rooms were OK in terms of decor and facilities in terms of cleanliness. The rooms do have a fridge, microwave and hob…and there’s a Bonus supermarket if you turn right and walk down the road for around 5-10 minutes, which was handy. We had the breakfast which offered cold meats, fruit, toast, cereals, coffee/tea etc. which was handy. The hotel are happy to store luggage for you also, which was good.
