Designed by former state architect Gudjón Samúelsson in 1917 this boutique hotel combines architectural appeal, prime location in the centre of Reykjavik, just 650 metres from the harbour, comfortable accommodation and excellent services. After work, shopping or visiting popular local points of interest like the Hallgrímskirkja Church, guests can unwind with a book or a film in the subdued elegance of their room, among calming muted colours and subtle architectural details. A drink in the on-site bar and a dinner of fantastic local specialties in the stately elegance of the hotel's restaurant will prove an excellent ending of the day.

Great location, lovely building and rooms. Opted to head out for breakfast as there are plenty of other options nearby
Great location. For the four nights we stayed there, we mostly used Apótek as a base so did not spend much time in the hotel itself. Lovely room and although facing onto the square, we were high enough not to hear noise. At 35eur per person, we opted to explore Reykjavík for breakfast instead which felt like the right choice as there’s plenty of options around! We did head into the restaurant one night but didn’t book for dinner so enjoyed a couple of cocktails which were fantastic. There is public parking outside and we were lucky enough to have a spot waiting for us each time we needed to park. One small criticism, and appreciate that this isn’t for everyone, but although the room had signs about being eco-conscious and would only swap towels if they were on the floor, we came back each day to a full set of new towels despite us following the sign. I’m okay with being given new towels, but don’t like the “eco-conscious” approach with signs but no follow through.
Ideal Spot for a Reykjavik Stay
It was our first trip to Reykjavik and Apotek was the ideal spot for our four-night stay. The room was nice-sized and comfortable, overlooking the square. The breakfast in the hotel's restaurant was excellent with a large selection; able to enjoy something a little different to start each day. And, for us, the location was ideal and within walking distance of most of the places we wanted to visit within the city. The only down-sided is parking although nearby on-street and ramp spots were readily available (and the parking app worked pretty well) All-in-all an excellent experience and we'll be back if in Reykjavik again.
Lovely Hotel
Lovely staff, beautiful rooms, located right in city center. Nice brunch, parking garages aren't too far away. Airport Fast Shuttle Premium Direct will drop you off directly at front door. Their city hotel directly next is also nice.
