The currency used in Milan is the Euro (EUR / €).

Notes are €5, €10, €20, €50, €100, €200 and €500, while coins are 1c, 2c, 5c, 10c, 20c, 50c, €1 and €2.

Most major credit cards are accepted across the city. However, it’s a good idea to carry some cash around with you too, as some cafés, restaurants and shops will only accept this form of payment.

We recommend buying your Milan travel money before you leave the UK. You can order your currency from Thomas Cook Travel Money (we'll deliver it to you!) or if you prefer you can load your Euros onto our currency card – it's an efficient way to carry money on holiday. With access to wholesale rates, we offer excellent rates that compete with the high street, making your holiday spends stretch that little bit further.
