Enjoyable stay
We have just returned home from a 10 night stay at the beach club hotel in Menorca. After looking at the reviews I was a little bit dubious, but had no need to be. On arrival reception staff were friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately our room was not ready although we did arrive at the hotel at 2pm in the afternoon. We got told to leave a number and they’d call when our room was ready, they never did. We explored the grounds in the meantime and after an hour checked back at reception to see if our room was finally ready. It was, we were a little disappointed they never called to let us know after a long day of travelling. The room was nice but basic. We had a room over the far side of the hotel which appeared to be one of the room which was not been refurbished due to not looking exactly like the pictures. Although it over looked the car park it had amazing sea views and was nice to watch sailing boats going past. The room was basic but had everything we needed and we only spent time in the room to sleep so it was not a concern. Beds were slightly uncomfortable for my liking. The cleaning staff do a fantastic job, changing towels and bedding every couple of days and they’re always around the hotel working hard with a friendly smile. Pool area is lovely. Always plenty of sun beds available. The pool itself needs a little TLC in areas, such as the steps being a little wobbly but it’s lovely and cold. Perfect for a hot day. The pool bar is a little pricey. We found going to buy a can of drink from the on-site supermarket for €0.86 is cheaper then a the drinks at the bar. The bar also does food, such a pizza and chips which is great to see you through until dinner. We stayed half board. The staff welcoming you into the buffet were incredibly friendly and work extremely hard. The waiter who tends to keep an eye out for the guests in the outside eating area was fantastic (we did not get his name). He was very friendly and did not stop working all evening. Breakfast was ok. Same selection of food everyday but freshly made omelettes, eggs and pancakes. Tea and coffee and juices. However some mornings the juice machine was not working. I must add the bread rolls were ROCK HARD definitely not fresh and very unenjoyable. Dinner was the same, a basic but a good selection. Each night was themed so it was nice to try a few different things but towards the end of the stay it became a bit tedious but considering what we paid for the holiday it was not bad. You can help yourself it an unlimited amount of soft drink, wine and beer throughout the meal as well. The beach is beautiful. A short walk from the hotel. However lotsssss of steps and slopes (which i did slip down while wearing flip flops). The water is very clear and very shallow. There are sun beds on the beach but they are pricey so people tend to just pop their towels down and set up for the day. You can buy umbrellas and beach essentials for a good price at the supermarket on site. The area Son Parc really is beautiful. The hotel grounds and surrounding areas have beautiful views. However it very much is not in walking distance of any life. A short walk from the hotel is another hotel where you can hire cars from a company called owners cars and I would highly recommend this if staying at the beach club. There is a bus stop outside the hotel but with a car we found we could explore so much more the the island. If you are looking for a hotel where you can head out in the evening for some night life and evening meals, this is not the one for you. However it is perfect for a quiet and relaxing holiday. I just want to add the last couple of days of our holiday were a bit ruined by a Decelera business conference/retreat thing. The hotel really does get taken over by it. They put up signs all over the hotel which are very much shoved in your face, take over half of the beach restaurant. We found a lot of the people attending it were very rude and you can not miss them in their bright blue t-shirts. They acted like they were more important than those on holiday and didn’t have consideration for those that had paid to be on holiday which is a shame. Overall we had an enjoyable stay at this hotel, but room for some slight improvements.
Beautiful Location and Beach
The hotel is situated in a beautiful, quiet location and has an amazing beach with spectacular views. It is a small hamlet set in a pine wooded area (amazing smell of pine) and there is also a nearby golf course. We had a room overlooking the pool but also a beautiful view of the coast and sea. It was an apartment, really quite big, comfortable and well kitted out with a kettle, large fridge, cooker, toaster, all crockery, glasses and cutlery. We had a really big balcony to sit out on and although the pool is just below, it was never noisy at all. The buffet breakfast and evening meal were absolutely superb and it was really lovely to see so much choice of delicious fruit. What was nice was having a large fridge, you could get tea, milk and cold drinks from the nearby supermarkets and have somewhere to put it. A lot of hotels don't want you to have a fridge and will charge you for this as they like you to buy all the drinks from the hotel. The hotel does also have a bar area where you can get all cold and hot drinks and snacks/meals during the day and it has a beautiful view over the beach. The staff are so friendly and helpful and they are not miserable at all. We believe that you should be pleasant to people, smile and speak to them and they will reciprocate. There were a few small issues in our room like a loose tap and toilet seat but the room was spotlessly clean and had everything that you needed. We can understand some people might find the beds a little hard but we like them like this. We would say that you need to be reasonably fit to go down to the beach and the hotel does have a few steep slopes/steps up and down but it is not too bad. If you are looking for a nice relaxing holiday destination then we would recommend this hotel as there is no evening entertainment or "thumping" disco music which was paradise for us. We have hired a car in the past but we found the local buses to be really great and also cheap; the bus stop is right outside the hotel. We had a great, relaxing time and would definitely recommend it.
Beach club Hotel Son Parc.
Hotel about 20mins from airport in Son Parc. Just outside. Hotel is high up from the beach. Which is 100yds away down steps and walk way. Hotel rooms are good but colour scheme in the rooms need updating, ( opinion). All have a kitchenette with a toaster, kettle, microwave and fridge. 2 ring electric cooker and sink. Bed are OK but our mattresses was hard and abit uncomfortable. Clean daily. We have a pool view room, on ground floor. Noise from other rooms and people walk down landing to and from rooms was noisy and loud. Especially at night. Buffet restaurant food was excellent and good choice. Pool bar we never used. The bar restaurant very good, food was abit Al acarte ish. Small onsite supermarket. To get basics if your self catering. Good view of the sea and bay beach. Staff was nice and pleasant. As the hotel is stand alone, no entertainment at all. 15min walk into Son Parc. Which has not alot there. BJs bar shown sports and is a tapas bar. Paradise beach bar had good food. There is a pharmacy, car hire supermarket on one street. Alot of steps and up and down hills not for the INFIRM OF MOBILITY. Same as the hotel, alot ot steps and steep sloops/ramps walkways.
