Sol Milanos Pinguinos

Sol Milanos Pinguinos is a family-friendly hotel on the southern coast of the Balearic island of Menorca. The hotel has views across the Mediterranean, and the long, sandy beach of Son Bou is a short stroll away. The hotel has an outdoor pool area with two main pools, plus a shallower pool for children. The pools are joined together by a bridge, and there are plenty of places to relax in the shade on the surrounding sun terrace. The hotel has a buffet restaurant that offers Italian cuisine, as well as a bar that serves soft drinks and alcohol. During high season, you can order snacks from the bar if you get hungry between meals. The hotel has a range of entertainment options for adults and children. In high season (May-Sep), you can play tennis, football and darts or take part in an aerobics or aquaerobics class. Sol Milanos Pinguinos arranges water sports including jet-skiing and pedalo riding (Jun-Aug). There's also a games room, which has a pinball machine and video games, as well as a playground at the hotel. Younger guests can also have fun at the kids' clubs, which run activities throughout the day and evening.

Sol Milanos Pinguinos is 100m from Son Bou Beach, which at 2.5 kilometres long is Menorca's longest white-sand beach. You can find a quiet spot here to while the day away, or you can head into the centre of Son Bou, the resort that lies 100m north of the hotel. The first place you'll come across is the local shopping centre, which sits directly behind Sol Milanos Pinguinos and has a range of shops, bars and restaurants as well as a pharmacy and supermarket for essential supplies. At the eastern end of Son Bou Beach is its basilica, the ruins of a 5th-century Christian church.

The hotel's main buffet restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It serves Italian cuisine, including pizza, lasagne and pasta. In high season, a second buffet restaurant is also open for breakfast and dinner, while the snack bar is open till late evening for light meals.

The hotel puts on nightly live entertainment, including Disney-style shows for kids. The three kids' clubs cater for children aged 8 months to 12 years.

Hotel rooms come with Wi-Fi, a satellite TV and a ceiling fan for keeping cool. Air conditioning is also available during the warmer months.

Ok but would not return

Have stayed here May 2nd-16th , the hotel is being run on less than half capacity as they are only using one of the twin towers, meaning there is only one restaurant operating and the pool bar is inside the venue/ entertainment area which means you have to go indoors to order drinks. I am half board and have to say the breakfasts are good , plenty of choice and no issues with this However the evening meals are variable , the meat and fish are excellent but there seems to be lack of accompanying sides that go together . We have had spring rolls as a side but no other Chinese fare , guacamole… with no other Mexican foods . I also had the displeasure of the meat cannelloni, I was expecting a rich beef / tomato based pasta topped with cheese. What I served up was a insipid , colourless and bland dish. It looked like slop ! Plentiful salad and soup/ bread and desserts all available as per the usual half board offerings . The service from all staff is excellent in all areas of the hotel , rooms cleaned daily and pool towels were provided which was unexpected The bedroom has twin beds , plenty of wardrobe space , tv though this is mostly European channels. Bathroom is ok , clean with shower over bath No kettle in room but there is a small fridge so you can keep small items /drinks chilled Small balcony with washing line , table and two chairs overlooking the pool and beach There are plenty of sun-beds available and two pools both are freezing though this is probably due to being so early in the season Life guard on duty during pool opening hours Quite strict rules including no eating round the pool you must move to the outdoor terrace tables , no inflatables are allowed either but this seems to be a common thing in other hotels too Lots of seating indoor and outdoors. We haven’t stayed in to see any entertainment so cannot comment on this. Would return to Son Bou but would choose different accommodation this is based on food quality alone as all other aspects of staying here have been good .

Great hotel...but island was closed..

Just leaving this fantastic hotel and it is lovely...but stuck in the millennium..can be a major player on the island...its massive but was on 5% capacity so it was dead as a dodo...if you like peace. ..

Our 39th wedding anniversary

May 2022 | daftlad1

What can I say wow! This hotel hits most of the boxes the only hotel on the son bou beach most rooms have a sea view this was early season work was still going on but it didn’t get in the way of our break. When we arrived we were given a band as we were on all inclusive it was late but we dropped our case off in our room and went down to the bar there was a singer on the stage ordered our first beer and met George a young lad behind the bar who welcomed us which was nice over our break he always asked how we were and if we needed anything. Next day we found we hadn’t taken a charger with us so we went down to reception to ask were we could buy one as it was Sunday and places seemed closed that’s when Elisa came to our rescue she went to her room and give us her own excellent customer service and once again she was always there to help. The restaurant well it had everything from salmon to steak which is buffet style also they have a chef on hand to cook anything to your taste the quantity and range and quality were excellent even the fussiest person would find something to eat. The chef Jesus was lovely when I said to Judith the waitress how impressed I was she told him and he came out to thank us but said it was down to his team I have to agree the service was excellent. I have to mention Alex he seemed to be every where bar waiter and in the restaurant. Would I go back oh yes with out doubt thank you all for making our anniversary special.
