Lovely Hotel & Facilities but hard for the staff to keep up the standards
A good all inclusive offer but seems to get very busy in the summer and you can see that at times its a little too much for a very good staff and they just cant offer you the experience they would wish to.
Beware of wasps, queues and lack of cleaning ...
Firstly, a huge thank you to Fabio whose energy throughout the time we were there was unbounding. THANK YOU FABIO! Note - this is a MASSIVE resort and it is built on a slight hill up from sea level, so depending where your room is, you will almost certainly have some hilly walking to do. (Request a room near the main bar to minimise long and hilly walks - 3007/3107/3307/4407 – we were on the end of a block and didn’t have a problem with noise). Our room was a good size with plenty of storage space (two twin rooms plus lounge and kitchenette/dining area for a family of 4 - parents + two teens) BUT it was not clean when we arrived - the dirt on the floor was sticking to our bare feet the moment we walked in. The rooms are meant to be cleaned daily - ours was missed TWICE in the 7 days we were there. We complained the second time as we had put our towels out for changing. But, whilst we were having pre-dinner drinks, we saw three (!) maids arrive - they cleaned thoroughly and changed the towels. The shower cubicle is very small and it LEAKED really badly – every night the bathroom floor was soaking wet after 4 of us had showered. It did not have very good pressure (the over bath shower had much better pressure). The main buffet RESTAURANT is huge - with three, inter-connecting sections that are opened up as the others fill up BUT not opened up fast enough which meant LONG queues at breakfast and dinner at peak times because there must be around 1000-1200 people staying at any one time. Likewise there were huge QUEUES at the main Pool Bar (south) and despite calling itself a 5 Star hotel - there was no poolside service to help alleviate this. You do not get served at the area that clearly looks like a “swim up bar”. WASPS were a massive problem. Management really need to consider using some form of repellent - citronella candles? By the end of our stay we were really fed up with them and chose to eat inside every day, such a shame when the weather is warm and the view is so beautiful. There are two other restaurants - TexMex and Italian BUT they are closed on certain days and get booked up VERY quickly. Reception did not bother to tell us this when we arrived and by the time we had decided to make a booking, the Italian was closed on 2 out of our 4 remaining days, and full on the other two. POOLS were excellent but you have to be up by 7/7.15am LATEST to get a lounger. If you do not, you will not get one at all because there are NOT ENOUGH chairs for all the guests staying at the resort. Management should consider having extra chairs stacked by the poolside for late comers – some people were laying their towels on the concrete to sit on. There is a deep pool at the top of the resort (north) which you can dive into and water polo or water basket is played daily. TUI describe this as “semi-olympic” which is ridiculous because it is basically a deep pool with the tiling showing lanes, but you cannot swim lanes because it is full of people! There is also a huge pool at the bottom of the resort (south) which is busier because it is bigger and has a huge children's section. Water gym etc take place here. There is also a kids play/splash area at the top of the resort. Despite being told that the pools had “opening times” due to the lifeguards shifts, they never closed and this suited us as we like to swim very late (after dinner) with older children. There is a SPA (Prestige Spa) but even on All Inclusive you have to pay 17euros EACH to use the pool in the afternoon!!!!!! This will be why it was empty the day we arrived and went to look around it. My husband & I both booked massages. These were the WORST massages we had ever had, and we’ve had a lot! The massage room was very brightly lit by sunlight, not a relaxing start, and the masseur (who claimed not to speak English) barely touched my skin – in fact barely even tickled it. It was a complete waste of money. We had a late checkout (5pm) and requested to keep our room (for a charge) but it wasn’t available. They told us we could still enjoy the facilities til 6pm BUT they switch off your WiFI access at Midday! We did use the pool all day – leaving our luggage locked in the store - and then showered in the restrooms up by the north pool at the end of the day. (There is also a laundry room there with free use of washing machines). Punta Prima is a very, very quiet little village with a small sandy beach. We were happy with this, but if you want a beach with activities, you’ll need to go elsewhere. If you want to get a bus, they only go inland and then back out to main resorts. So if you want to just pop along the coastal road, there is a fantastic little land train (summer only) that runs along the coast road from Punta Prima to Binibeca. This is a much bigger beach but quite basic (only one toilet) and no bar/café facility (although a man comes round with a wheelbarrow of fruit and cold drinks for sale). Despite the negatives that hopefully management will pick up on, we had a lovely holiday and will return.
Great family resort
The most of the resort isn't 5* (there are some new suites which obviously are, but the majority are 4ish). Though, the room was clean and spacious. The pools are VERY cold. Alcohol was branded and lots on offer. I enjoyed the food, but my husband (who is more picky) struggled (rabbit, calamari - not his thing, burger night was a riot with guests elbowing to get in). Entertainment and mini disco were excellent, though I'm not sure I'd want to do it during peak season. Wasps are terrible - we were all stung. Check-in a very slow process. TUI, direct transfers (so only 20mins from airport). I'd go back.
