Club hotel Aguamarina

Club hotel Aguamarina is an All Inclusive hotel on the north east coast of Menorca, near the town of Arenal d'en Castell. Surrounded by grassy gardens, the hotel is steps from a beach that's protected by a small bay. With gentle sand dunes and shallow waters, the beach area is a popular choice for families with small children. The hotel is built in a modern style with some details that reflect local Menorcan architecture. There are three swimming pools at Club hotel Aguamarina, as well as two separate kids' pools and a splash pool for toddlers. One of the main pools has several water slides, while in the main kids' pool younger guests can have fun on the mini slides and water fountains. If you're feeling energetic, you can join in with sporting activities including beach volleyball, basketball, football and mini golf. The hotel runs aerobics classes, or you can work out in the gym. When you want to relax, there's a sun terrace and garden where you can sunbathe. In the evening, the hotel staff put on entertainment for all the family to enjoy. These nightly shows might include live singers, acrobats, dancers and magicians. You can also get a team together and take part in one of the hotel's regular quiz nights. You can enjoy all of your meals at Club hotel Aguamarina's restaurants, and relax with a drink in the hotel's bars. If you'd like to enjoy a meal in Arenal d'en Castell, there's a wooden boardwalk that runs along the eastern side of the beach to an area with seafront cafes and bars.

Club Aguamarina is 100m from the beach and 850m from the centre of Arenal d'en Castell. Mahon, Menorca's capital, is 16.7km away. If you take a day trip to the capital, you can stop off at S'Albufera Natural Park along the way. It's near the town of Es Grau, and you can spot some of Menorca's wildlife here. The visitor centre details the species of animals you can hope to see, and offers guidance on which trails to follow through the wetlands, forest and dunes leading up to the coast. The historic island capital of Mahon is found on Menorca's west coast and is dominated by a 19th-century fortress with views over the harbour. The Fortalesa De La Mola has tunnels you can explore and a separate art gallery space. It leads out into Mahon's old town, where you can stroll through the mix of Spanish and colonial buildings to the Arch de San Roque, the last remaining part of the town's medieval wall.

There's a buffet restaurant in each of Club Aguamarina's two main buildings. Here you can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner, choosing from a range of international and Spanish cuisines. The hotel also has a poolside bar and a lounge bar for soft or alcoholic drinks and light snacks.

The hotel has a kids' club that organises activities like crafts and water games. Kids can also enjoy a games zone, themed parties and a mini disco.

All the rooms are airy and brightly decorated. They all have a balcony or terrace, centrally controlled air conditioning and satellite TV.

Very nice hotel with great sea views and lovely swim pools

This hotel is situated in a lovely area. I’ve booked a room with a Seaview which is absolutely worth every penny. Was there just before the hotel was closing which was okay however the food choice was very bad and limited That would be my only complaint for the whole of my stay. The rooms could do with updating however they were very clean

Great hotel, with a few small issues

Having had our planned holiday to Salou cancelled numerous times due to the pandemic, we were offered a holiday either here or at a hotel in Ibiza. We opted to come here and I feel the decision was the right one. You could not ask for a better hotel for young children with a great kid's club, a fantastic splash pool, two large water slides and an excellent mini disco every evening. There's plenty for adults too, with a well stocked bar, entertainment in the evening and three pools including an adults-only jacuzzi. The hotel itself is clean, the rooms aren't huge but they're adequate and the beds, though not luxurious are as comfortable as you'd expect from a hotel of this kind. Some small issues, though. First, the flies and wasps. Everywhere and everything, including the food in the restaurant and drinks dispensers in the bar, is covered with flies and wasps. I realise that there is little that can be done about this, but basic precautions like covers on the food and bug zappers should be expected. I've stayed in other hotels in Menorca and never had this problem, so it's not insurmountable. Speaking of food, the restaurant, though adequate, is very samey. On a similar topic, we paid for all inclusive, so to be charged 6.75 for a basic cocktail was surprising. The drinks that are available on all inclusive are the cheapest local brands and are all but undrinkable. They are very generous with their measures, but when the liquor tastes like paint thinner, this potential plus becomes a minus, I'm afraid. One last thing on the subject of drinks, why are the cups provided for the all inclusive drinks so tiny? There's no reason for it other than cost to the hotel. Those were the only negative things. On the whole, this is a great hotel operated efficiently and very much geared towards families and children. The animation team are excellent and among the best we have encountered. This might seem like a small point, but the water pressure in the bathroom was excellent, making a cool shower so much better after a hot day. There are plenty of sun loungers, so no scraps at poolside. The pools are well maintained and very clean with a lifeguard posted at each. Pool tables, table tennis, crazy golf, arcade machines (beware, some of these do not work and will eat your money,) air hockey, rifle shooting, darts, an excellent swing park and tennis are all available.

Excellent family hotel - wish we'd found it earlier

This was a last minute booking because of the difficulties travelling under coronavirus restrictions and it wouldn't have normally been our choice- its is clearly family focussed and we weren't travelling with children but, as it turned out, it was exactly what we needed. There are two decent sized pools and we were able to enjoy many swims in the quieter one. The location, near a nice beach with crystal clear sea, was perfect. The rooms are on the small side but perfectly adequate and the bathrooms were good. The restaurant is a buffet and as such the food quality can be variable but we always enjoyed our meals and as the holiday was all-inclusive the overall cost was very reasonable. Transfers from the airport and bus trips into Mahon take about 25 minutes, the bus stop is just outside the hotel. The staff were, without exception, polite, professional and efficient. My only regret- I wish we'd found this place when our kids were much younger, they would have loved the hotel and its numerous child- centred facilities.
