Nice break but pool so cold!

Nov 2021 | Miss_BM01
We visited over October half term getting a fantastic deal. The weather was much warmer than anticipated which was lovely but the position of the pool meant the pool and sun loungers were in shade until gone midday to the point I was freezing cold! I would definitely recommend walking down to the beach as we had lovely days down there in Santa Ponsa. Food wise - good selection but always best to be early for dinner to miss the queues. I have to say that the staff at the kids club are absolutely amazing - give them a pay rise!! My girls absolutely loved Goofy and going to the activities put on. The rooms were functional but probably not worthy of a 4*. All in all, we had a good holiday which was enhanced definitely by the staff. And also the utterly amazing sunsets it offers!

Finally, holiday again.

This hotel has many good points and a couple of “points of improvement” Considering Covid at the time of the holiday, I personally think the hotel did a good job of handling the remaining Covid restrictions appropriately. The hotel is not huge, and the outdoor area reflects this, it can be difficult to find public space in the hotel (inside or outside) even in October. Staff we very friendly and accommodating, no issues at all. Food in the restaurant was excellent, and I would say one of the strongest components of the holiday. Rooms are functional, clean and I didn’t really want for much. Cleaning, this was not a strong point I am afraid, the room to room cleaning was poor, and my wife having to strip my child’s bedsheets and place them on the floor (to indicate we need a clean sheet, and don’t get me wrong you could tell it was needed, the little guy had got mud and dirt all over it by accident) only for the cleaner to re-make the bed with the same sheets.. Also, I can’t remember the last time the body wash and shampoo wasn’t replaced once used (clearly not a show stopper but an interesting observation) Many people I met on holiday were repeat customers and excused a little tardiness on Covid, something I will have to take at their word. Was the hotel good? I think it was, and despite a few negatives it was pleasant, it’s not a scathing review! Would I rebook? Personally? I am not sure if I would… I may change my mind after the remnants of Covid are gone, it WAS value for money. Finally, and this was a minus point.. the last few days were Halloween, and the sold a local Halloween event to hundreds and hundreds of people, the hotel was overrun, and we couldn’t get into the restaurant for meals (we ate out). It was overwhelming when we had paid for all inclusive, I would avoid Halloween if I was you.

Great Holiday

We stayed in room 417 from 22-30 October and had an amazing time. There are many great things about this hotel but also some downsides. Rooms - our rooms was very modern, well sized and very clean. There was a separate bedroom with the children (7, 5 and 4) in the living area. This wouldn't work so well with older children I don't thing. The separate dressing room was really useful. Balcony was great overlooking pool and with sea view. Food/restaurant - we thought the food was a really high standard with lots of variety each day. The restaurant is busy and there was often a queue to get a table. Staff - the staff at this hotel are exceptional, always helpful friendly and incredibly hard working. Bar - there is a pool bar and inside bar which were never open at the same time resulting queues in the day/evening but not quick moving and not really a problem. Good selection of drinks and cocktails all good quality. Pool - the design of the hotel means the pool is mostly in the shade. This may be less of a problem in summer when the sun rises higher but in October I couldn't see any sunbeds getting sun until after 1200. This also meant that the pool was freezing and our kids mainly used the small heated undercover pool which was a real shame. A solar heating system would make things much better but the shade is very frustrating. Area - it takes about 20 minutes to walk to the beach in Santa Ponsa, it's a great beach and a nice walk. The resort is mid sized and seemed really nice. Overall we had a great holiday but the pool temperature and constant shade were very frustrating.
