Hipotels Mediterraneo - adults only

Hipotels Mediterraneo Hotel Hotel is an adults-only hotel on Majorca's east coast. It's close to Playa es Fogons Beach and is within walking distance of Sa Coma Town centre, which has a selection of bars, restaurants and shops. The resort is known for its promenade that runs along the sandy beach. There's an outdoor pool, as well as several restaurants, a spa and a gym at Hipotels Mediterraneo Hotel Hotel. It has a traditional Spanish decor, and Mediterranean-style outdoor areas lined with palm trees. You can eat at the buffet restaurant for both breakfast and dinner, while you can also dine at the two a la carte restaurants that are open during the evening. There are two bars at the hotel, one of which serves a selection of drinks and light snacks during the day. The hotel staff organise activities in the daytime and entertainment in the evenings. A variety of sports options are also available to enjoy. Sa Coma is quieter than many of the resorts surrounding Palma, and evening entertainment is usually based within the hotels. A short drive away is the town of Cala Millor, which has a bustling nightlife scene with plenty of clubs, bars and restaurants open until late.

Hipotels Mediterraneo Hotel is 50m from Playa es Fogons Beach and 400m from the town centre of Sa Como. Parts of the surrounding area have been designated as nature reserves, so you can take a walk along the coastline and try and spot some of the local wildlife. If you want to explore more local sights, you can take a short drive to the hidden caves of Cuevas del Drach with their subterranean lake. The harbour town and traditional fishing village of Porto Cristo is also within driving distance. Here, people tend to take part in activities such as hiking, cycling and horse riding.

A variety of international cuisine is available for breakfast and dinner at the buffet restaurant. The two a la carte restaurants at the hotel serve Japanese food and Spanish tapas, both of which have taster menus. There's a pool bar as well as another bar.

Hipotels Mediterraneo Hotel puts on entertainment in the evenings, while various sporting facilities such as tennis and squash courts are also available.

The rooms are decorated in a bright, modern style, and have a balcony or terrace. All have air conditioning and a satellite TV.

More a 3 star than a 4, avoid if you are vegetarian

Oct 2021 | Ravinder T
This hotel is more a 3 star rather than 4. There are so many things which are additional and not included in your all inclusive and the facilities are not that great. The positives are that the hotel has a great location and lots of shops, restaurants and amenities nearby. The negatives are all the extras even if you are all inclusive. They advertise that there is a main buffet restaurant, a poolside bar near the main restaurant, a Mediterranean cafe near the lobby and another bar near another outdoor pool. There is also meant to be another restaurant. What they don't tell you is that the other restaurant is not available. The poolside bar near the main restaurant only serves drinks not snacks. The other bar also only serves drinks unless you want to pay for food (this is not included in your all inclusive). The Mediterranean cafe is meant to be open for breakfast and then snacks from 11-6. This is incorrect. It sometimes opens for breakfast and not for other times. It is not open continuously from 11-6 rather it seems to shut at about 12 and then re-open at 2pm for lunch. They then begin to close it at around 5.10pm. The food is also quite bad. It's dry, incredibly salty and there is very little choice if you are vegetarian - in fact out of the 6 days here there was only one actual vegetarian meal at the main restaurant and that was a veg lasagne. The other times it was roasted veg, salads and either really salty cheese and tomato pizza or kids packet pasta. I would recommend you only go bed and breakfast here and eat out the rest of the time as 5 minutes up the road or beach are plenty of other restaurants and cafes where the food will be much more enjoyable. I suspect the non veg choices are better but even for the children it was the same three choices over and over. The entertainment team do try really hard but the kids club was just overrun and there were clearly not enough staff members for the amount of children at the club. Also the main restaurant and kids pool is across the road from the living accommodation. Again not an issue but something to be aware of. The other facilities are lacking. At the time of our holiday the indoor pool, sauna, steam room we're all closed due to COVID. I can understand why but it does mean that when the weather gets cooler there is nothing to do in the hotel. They have an outdoor pool table which you need to pay for and 2 ping pong tables and that's it which means the facilities are mediocre at best. It's clear that what you are paying for here is the view/ location and not much else. They will charge you to use the safe and ask for a deposit for the beach towels which you can only exchange every 3 days. Housekeeping will not come on a Thursday so bear that in mind. The beach is lovely but in all honesty considering what we paid to stay here it's not worth it.

Quality near de beachfront

We enjoyed our brief stay at this hotel. It was clean, the facilities abundant and the drinks and food of good quality. For us as a family a great escape. So close to the lovely sandy beach! Highly recommended.

Eating factory feel

Oct 2021 | tomasbilek
The hotel is modern and generally looks nice. The restaurants felt a bit noisy with a factory canteen feel. Too bussy, resonating acoustics, Some food delicious, but pizzas and pastas same every day and rather too simple and dry. Staff keep running around and take plates too quickly and often - I lost plates few times when going for a drink refil. The aircon in the room was a bit noisy at night. Surrounding streets around the hotel felt poor and deserted. Looks like the hotel has stolen all the business and surrounding is dying.
