Discovery Awaits

Welcome to Crystal River

Nicknamed the 'Nature Coast', days here begin and end with water.

You could start your mornings fishing for grouper in the shallow flats before kayaking along the Three Sisters Springs. Then as the sun starts to set, spend your evenings tucking into freshly-caught seafood in one of Homosassa's waterfront restaurants.

Whether you're swimming with the manatees, reeling in Florida’s best fishing, diving for scallops, tasting fish-to-fork cuisine, playing great golf courses, hiking through unspoiled forests or cycling on one of America’s top-rated trails, you won't be short of ways to spend your time in Crystal River.

So what are you waiting for?

Try Florida's Scenic Side

If you love nature, you’ll love Crystal River. There are tons of outdoor activities to sink your teeth into, whether you’re looking for hiking adventures, scenic bike rides or exciting watersports.

Fort Island Gulf Beach is perfect for lazy days on the sand. And with ocean temperatures hovering around 22°C all year, there’s never a bad time to take a dip in the water.

When you’re not floating in the sea, you could be swimming in natural springs surrounded by manatees. Stretching for 52 acres, the beautiful Three Sisters Springs refuge lets you observe these gentle creatures in their natural habitat - a bucket-list experience for the whole family.

If you prefer something a little more exhilarating, then the waters at Kings Bay are buzzing with activity. You can kayak, paddleboard and even go snorkelling for scallops.

After all that water-based fun don’t forget to explore the Heritage Village. Here, you can catch a glimpse of traditional Florida with a visit to the museum or by simply admiring the 18th century houses.

Give Homosassa a go

Homosassa is famous for its local charm and excellent choice of waterfront restaurants. It's also a great place to try locally-caught seafood.

Shrimp is on just about every menu, alongside the tastiest fresh seasonal crab and scallops plucked straight from the water. You’ll also find fish dishes with a southern twist like gumbo and po’ boys.

If you haven't already, you've got to try the Key Lime Pie. And even if you have, what better place to have it again than the state where it was invented?
