Sleep Quality

Good location, no AC, warm room

May 2022 | Mandkim

We stayed here due to the proximity to The Curran Theater. The entire hotel's AC was not working, and we were not informed of this during check-in. Because we did not know, we relied on the AC to cool the room down while trying to sleep, with no success. Additionally the hotel staff seemed unaware of the status of the repairs or an expected completion time, which is terrible. We continued to call down to the front desk to find out if the AC was working so we could close the windows. Keeping the windows open at night resulted in loud street noises during our sleep.

Enjoyed our stay

I picked this hotel because it's the hotel from the Maltese Falcon; it's remodeled in a modern way but there are a few references to the movie here and there in the hotel. I also thought it was very reasonably priced in comparison to some of the hotels we have stayed at in San Francisco previously. Pros: Really clean, fun decor, awesome hotel lobby fireplace, spacious king suite, and great value. Best part was the bathroom, there was an actual tub and not just the plain box shower stalls with no where to put your foot to shave your legs that most hotels have these days. Good location, I was a bit wary from reading reviews but we felt safe, and there were some fun bars and restaurants nearby. Cons: Air conditioning in our room didn't seem to be working, or perhaps not available yet because it was May? The windows opened slightly which cooled off our room well enough, but there were no screens on the windows so I was bit afraid a bird might fly in or something. No microwave in the room, and no microwave to use in a common area either. Front desk suggested I ask the restaurant, but they were about to close and I felt a little weird about it. Finally, TVs are not smart TVs so no way to use a streaming service or screen mirror to them. Not a huge deal if you're out exploring the city, but we were staying for medical reasons and had to spend more time than we liked in the room, so it would have been nice to have. Overall, it was a great experience, and I would stay here again

Not a lot for your money

Apr 2022 | 2carolst

We spent a long weekend in San Francisco, and The Marker looked like it would be a great place to stay. The pictures made it look wonderful. We booked a suite, thinking we would have lots of room, with all of the trappings that usually go with a suite, like a microwave, coffee maker, coffee, etc. Our suite was in need of a deep cleaning, from the grimy white wall paper to the the window that was too filmy to see out of. There was a small fridge, which was nice, but no coffeemaker and no microwave. The suite was very roomy, but there was no dresser to put clothes in, just 1 oversized nightstand with 2 drawers. They did provide coffee in the library off of the lobby, so to have a leisurely cup of AM coffee, I had to get dressed and go downstairs. There were spaces to at least put coffee on each floor. The big beautiful tub had a broken drain and wouldn’t hold water. And to top it off, they charged a daily ‘resort fee’ for the amenities, but there really weren’t any. No cleaning service, no room service, no concierge. The hotel is centrally located, and there are lots of restaurants around, but considering their resort fees, we could have gone to a nicer place.
