Outstanding service!

May 2022 | Europhile5

We stayed for a week.Disappointed at first as the rooms are not updated but we 3 were out most of the time. Clean! lots of hot water! we made 3 requests about the air conditioner , towels and blankets and someone was there within a few minutes. Our room had no view as it was in the 3rd floor, which turned out to be a GOOD thing as my cellphone fell out the window in the middle of the our last night with $ credit cards, ID and vaccination info and boarding pass attached. The staff ( especially Shabad, on night duty) were on it immediately and in the morning, the doorman (David) happened to know the owner of the building next door that was empty and being renovated. He even had the phone number. The owner was nice enough to come early. By 8:00, he had retrieved my things in time for our early flight. Whew! Everyone was beyond helpful for our entire stay. As we left, we remarked how much the place had grown on us!

Old & Frumpy Hotel

Apr 2022 | Jet65578303816

The Belvedere is an older building, and the room I stayed in was not as nice as website pictures suggested (maybe other rooms have been renovated?). The old furniture, old carpet, outdated bathroom fixtures, and loud A/C window unit made my room feel frumpy rather than charming. I tried the Belvedere because it was cheaper than my usual NYC choices, and I felt like “I got what I paid for” in terms of ambiance. That said, the Belvedere is not a bad hotel. It’s just old. A large school group and a few family groups staying there resulted in some long elevator wait times, but the staff was friendly and my room had a microwave and fridge. The hotel is also a short block away from the 50th Street C/E subway station, very close to attractions in Times Square, surrounded by great eateries in Hells Kitchen, and a 10-ish minute walk from Central Park. If you’re not too fussy about ambiance and decor, then the Belvedere is probably a smart choice as long as it remains competitively priced.

Great location

Apr 2022 | derrygerry

Just back from 4 nights , room was bigger than expected and had a great view over midtown (as shown in the photo )Manhattan, it was clean and we had no issues with air conditioning or showers etc. As has been mentioned before they really could do with either more or else faster lifts and on a couple of occasions we took the stairs down from the 12 th floor rather than waiting any longer. Tea and coffee are available downstairs in the morning and and any staff we encountered were helpful and friendly, The location is excellent with just being five minutes walk from the bright lights of Time Square (for breakfast I would really recommend Times Square diner just around the corner from the hotel on 8th avenue )
