Perry, the General Manager cancelled my reservation I booked months earlier. When I arrived to check in, the very sweet lady at the desk apologized profusely because her manager (Perry) sold my room to another guest (I assume at a higher rate). I asked her to call him. He was rude, flippant, and unhelpful, and told me to find somewhere else to stay as they were now sold out. Stay at the newly remodeled Hampton inn next door. They were so nice and accommodating when Perry left me homeless for the night.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn, Winter Haven, on our way to visit family in Southern Florida. The hotel is older and not as well maintained as other IHG properties we've stayed at. It was ok for a one night stay. One of the reasons we chose it, instead of other area hotels, was because they offered free cancellations and as we were uncertain of the exact day we would be in Winter Haven, this was a good feature. As it turned out, we didn't have to modify or cancel our original reservation. The thing that surprised us when we made the reservation was that breakfast is not included in the room rate. It is offered at a cost of $10.50 per person. We knew we would be in a hurry to leave the next morning so we decided to include this cost when we made our reservation. Seeing as we had to pay extra, we were expecting a more upscale or restaurant quality breakfast. However, there was nothing special about it. Instead, the breakfast consisted of some of the items that are served as a complementary feature at other hotels, adequate as a last minute option but not one that we would purchase again. All in all, there are other choices in this price point that we would choose the next time.

Staff is wonderful. They keep the place so clean. Breakfast is very good - variety and quality. Comfy beds. Very enjoyable stay. Located within walking distance of two restaurants and short drive to many stores.
