The room was worn - needed a update badly

The room needed updating- the bed board and frame were clearly damaged and scratched - I’ve seen far better rooms in much cheaper hotels….the sheets or bed, I couldn’t tell, smelled like male sweat, a locker room and the sheets were on their last legs. The shower curtain in the bathroom was attached to the bar backwards. On the day I was leaving someone tried to open the door at 8:55 am -checkout was at 11am - if I had not latched the door they would have walked right in on me. For $600 to $800 a night this was not worth it. I did expect a room that was in better shape and fresher towels & linens

Red Tide, Loud Music, Poor Service, Over Priced

We’ve stayed here numerous times over the years, and sadly this year will be our last. The service has gone down hill at the beach club while the price has increased (even more). We’ve have so many issues with the room that they switched us to a second room, which was inconvenient. And now worst of all, it’s nearly 11pm and there is a wedding happening on the lawn, blasting music SO LOUD that no one in the hotel can sleep. It’s literally shaking the walls and the hotel staff sees no issue with it. My kids would like to sleep so we can enjoy our vacation tomorrow. The RED TIDE is so bad all guests and employees are coughing constantly at the beach club. There is no warning when booking nor on the website about it. At $1500+ a night for the basic room, the many many issues are just beyond bearable. Take your money to any other Marriott/ritz property in the state.

Staff upgrade since Covid.

Staff has been replenished after Covid and seems to be friendlier than before. Valet staff is on top of the game; housekeeping and food staff are also top notch. Not under their control, but all of the nearby building construction noise is somewhat of a distraction. Hopefully temporary! Off site beach access is a bit inconvenient but well worth the 10 minute shuttle ride. Will stay again.
