Lovely hotel, definitely recommend ||I can’t understand how come people complain about this hotel
Very good hotel, recommend to everyone. Good location, close to Barcelona, beautiful beach close by the hotel, very clean, big room, food is very delicious and you have plenty of variety to choose from. Every day you have activities, they are keeping you entertained. Night also there is dancing, karaoke, games, we had so much fun, you can’t get bored. Well done Palas Pineda 5 stars from me
Family holiday in August (British review)
We have just stayed a week at this hotel in the height of season and school holidays. Total package (minus transfers) was £2000 for 2 adults and 11 year old. This was on an all inclusive basis. There are 2 parts to the hotel with separate enterances and I assume 1 part houses the hotel rooms and the other part houses the apartments. We paid for a superior double to be advised that we would have a standard (a double room for 2 adults and a 11 year old which was ridiculous but was addressed immediately after showing proof of booking ) The room was average, 1 double (large) bed and a single bed, balcony with 2 wicker chairs, table and a wooden sun lounger which you couldn't really lay on because it would be very uncomfortable Bathroom is a walk in shower, the shower flooded everytime we used it, not a huge issue but nevertheless not the best when you have to use your towels to save the water running into your hotel room. Beds clean and relatively comfy, it's no 5* comfort but it's not a 5* hotel. I would say the beds and pillows were fine, more comfortable than some other places we have stayed. Meals and drinks - you can eat from 7.30am through to 11pm on the A.I basis. There is 1 main resturant and it is what I would expect really for a family holiday. A variety of bland and beige foods, something for everyone unless you just complain about everything. Pizzas, chips, salad bar, whippy ice cream, a selection of meats / pasta / cheese and breads. None of the food is what I would write home about but it's a huge hotel and what I would expect from A.I The snack bar opens 11am -11pm serving drinks including cocktails, soft drinks, beer and local spirits. It also serves pizza, chips, cheese and ham toasties, salads and hot dogs on the A.I basis. A lot of people didn't realise but on the bar is an ice cream list and these are part of the A.I. I thought this was great because it wasn't the usual tiny tubs in an A.I it was ice lollies, Ice cream sandwiches and chocolate ice cream lollies (equivalent to a feast in England) There was also lemon and strawberry slush puppies which were part of A.I Lays plain crisps so walkers plain are part of the A.I along with small trays of peanuts. There are 2 pools, 1 which allows inflatables. Being critical the pool sides could do with a good scrub to freshen them up but my son had fun picking up a few lose pool tiles off the pool floor and looking for where they had come off This is a Spanish resort it's aimed very much at the Spanish, the staff do not speak good English and the entertainment is Spanish. I hadn't realised and was hoping my son should make a few friends but we were the only English people there. What was nice is that the Spanish go inside around 1pm to 5pm meaning the pools were practically empty so us daft brits that stay out in the mid afternoon sun could bask and turn from white to lobster without screaming kids all over On day 3, something disagreed with me and I was vomiting quite badly all evening (no it wasn't booze infused which would be the likely, usual tale ) Ide not eaten any 'high risk' foods but I had noticed that on my drinks from the snack bar there was a foam which took a long time to dissolve (like when your soft drink fizzes but for much longer) and then a bit of residue. I was cautious but can be a funny bugger ordinarily so drank some of it. On day 5 my husband got a beer which fizzed the same and told me I was being paranoid to only be kissing the porcelain and unwell a few hours later. It's very strange for us we have travelled all over and eaten in some exotic places but never been unwell. So 2 nights were ruined by some kind of dodgy drink issue (I don't think it was the food due to the type of rubbish we were eating it wasn't exactly oysters and high risk meats more chips, pizza, vegetables and overcooked pork or beef) We stayed in room.2118, floor 1,the end room looking over the balcony into the foyer. One thing that I found a bit annoying was that as beautiful as it was to watch (and I mean the Spanish know how to throw a party) was that they had a wedding on the Friday and staurday nights. This went on until 4am in the morning and it's bang outside your door - drunk fun loving guests and kids screaming which is okay if your in attendance. Luckily my son sleeps through anything and me and my husband like smirnoff (which is £12 a litre in the near by shops) so we kind of danced to the music on our balcony, got merry and slept through it but if you have young kids, like your sleep or want peace and quiet then you would not be happy! The beach is a 2 min walk and the front. Usual resort bars, amusements and restaurants. Glad we came but we won't be back, it was fun but from a hygiene, food, manners and service perspective what you would get in a best Western in England (some of that issue is a language barrier though) Also were mosquito repeller! I got bitten loads so did my husband! Indoor pool and jacuzzi is dirty and doesn't work Vending machines have usual snacks and drinks reasonably priced. sunbeds seem okay to get and you don't have to go down at daft o'clock. Lifeguards observe the pool. Entertainment for us was rubbish but that's because it was Spanish so we didn't understand ! We will be true brits abroad and go to an English focused resort next time.
Lovely hotel
Rooms are modern and spacious with new walk in showers. Pool area is clean and spacious with plenty of sunbeds when we went in October. La Pineda is a lovely areas but many place close during October so not much to do, this added to the relaxing break that we wanted. Animation team are wonderful here, Santos leads a great team and always have things going on for guests. Food is great and plenty of choice.
