The Gran Hotel Miramar Resort & Spa 5*GL ; located in the area of La Caleta, between Paseo de Reding avenue and the sea front, with the principal entrance facing the Mediterranean Sea, offers marvellous views over the Bay of Malaga and is just 5 minutes from the city's top museums (including the Picasso; Carmen Thyssen; Centre Pompidou and Hermitage)It is considered the masterpiece of architect Fernando Guerrero StrachanÊs work and took five years to complete, finally being opened in 1926 by King Alfonso XIII under the name Hotel Príncipe de Asturias. From 1936 until 1939, it was used as a hospital during the Spanish Civil War. It then returned to being a hotel, under the moniker Hotel Miramar, until it closed for business in 1967. During the period of 1987 to 2007, it was used as a courthouse.

Business Meeting
Myself and 13 colleagues choose Gran Miramar for our annual sales conference. Our first meeting together since the Covid Pandemic so we wanted it to be somewhere special. Gran Miramar definitely lived up to the special criteria. We got the sense it was going to be good due to the quality of the website, the reviews and the conference staff who helped us with the organisation (Big thanks to Luisa, especially) Simone also looked after us very well over the 2 days of the meeting. The weather was probably a little cooler than we expected, but at lunch time the weather was beautiful and allowed us to have lunch over looking the beach/sea. The breakfast choice is vast and is really really fresh and enjoyable. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to treat their partner or colleagues.
The best hotel ever
I stayed with two friends for two nights. We had a triple room which was absolutely beautiful. The usual robes and slippers, with excellent toiletries. A Nespresso machine ( there was a pod of tea which we didn’t try) and any requests for more coffee, milk etc were delivered in under five minutes. The breakfast was fabulous and again any requests were immediately dealt with. Good coffee was served, not the stewed coffee you often get in hotels. The setting and the hotel itself were lovely. What made our break so great was the staff. Nothing was too much trouble and every member was pleasant, smiling and solicitous. In particular Christian on reception deserves a mention. Also Alma, a member of staff we met casually on our way to breakfast, who immediately offered to change a bed which my friend found a little hard. Sure enough when we returned later that day a single bed had replaced the sofa bed. I rarely write a review but this hotel and its staff deserves 10/10.
Stunning architecture and beachfront location backed by stand-out service
This hotel will "Wow" you from moment you drive through the entrance gate until you check out. The grounds, the architecture, the decor, the views, the service, and the food were all spectacular - highly recommend. For me, the best out of all of these was the service. Everyone we engaged with was attentive, nice, and eager-to-please. One standout employee is David who is a server during the breakfast and lunch hours. Each day he greeted me with a big smile and remembered my preferences. I was surprised to read a couple of less-than-complimentary reviews on the staff. My room was perfect in size with a large bathroom, plenty of storage, a lovely terrace, and one of the most comfortable hotel beds I've slept on in a while. The location is ideal if you want ocean views and quick access to the beach. It is about a 10 -15 minute walk to the main tourist shopping, dining, and arts district, but it is a safe and pleasant walk. Ubers and taxis are quick to arrive if walking is not an option. If I have to find something to critique it would be that there needs to be better instructions on finding your way around. As an example, breakfast dining is on level 0. I took the elevator bank closest to the main drive-up entrance and found myself wandering a hallway and eventually found the back-way in and made an awkward entrance. I also was not sure where the main dining room was but there were plenty of staff to point me in the right direction. That's all nit-picky though.
