We love the Mahagiri experience....our recent holiday is our second at this wonderful resort and we have already booked in for 2 more holidays in the near future. We love the whole package that Mahagiri offers: the lovely villas (we have stayed in a 2 br villa and a 1 br villa) with absolute privacy and the attention to detail in presentation, they are clean and modern while still maintaining a feeling of bali...the original artworks featuring bali culture are stunning! The resort is set amongst the most tranqil tropical gardens that are meticulously maintained, they induce a feeling of peace as soon as you enter the resort. The restaurant is excellent, both the staff and the food ....the breakfast is one of the best we have had in Bali (quality and presentation)..I am vegetarian and the range of choice for me is impressive and the food is so fresh. Whilst we love the gardens, the villas, the pools, and the restaurant at Mahagiri it is the staff that really make our stay so very enjoyable....we feel we arrive as clients and leave as friends. Every request is responded to immediately, the transport service to drive us anywhere in Sanur and pick us up is excellent and very friendly....the staff love this resort and go out of their way for you to love it too.....and we do!!!

Enjoyable stay

Things didn’t start so great with Mahagiri. We arrived an hour early and said we would be happy to leave the bags and come back later if the room was not ready. But we were checked in then taken to the restaurant for a welcome drink and some canapes. Then we were just left for the next 50 minutes without anything further said which was a bit weird. On arrival to the room there was a welcome note left on the bed, but it was for a Korean couple (we are not Korean). The first night was a nightmare. We were kept awake by the loudest frogs I have ever heard. It was like a flock of geese or seals right outside the room just loud as anything honking all night. In the morning I spoke to reception, and they offered to move us to a different villa and to have their pest guy deal with the frogs. The move turned out to be the best thing for us. Even though the villas were supposedly identical the second villa was just in much better order – the pool wasn’t as overgrown and dirty from plant material, the outdoor shower actually worked and the whole feel was just much nicer. Also – no more frogs once their guy dealt with them – bliss!! So, onto the good stuff – the gardens are lovely. The food and room service are excellent – not expensive and a wide range of choices. Breakfast was great with many options. As many people have noted the free car service is probably the best thing. We were dropped off and picked up from all over Sanur and the drivers were all super helpful. The staff are lovely – Gusti & Ryan at the restaurant & the guys driving were super friendly. One thing we must mention, and I can’t believe so few people discuss this – the one-bedroom villas have no steps into the pool. There is a shelf at 40cm then into 1.5m deep. This means there is no easy or graceful way to exit other than pull yourself out or go for the beached whale approach. If you had movement issues this could be very difficult to get in and out. I also felt the pools needed to be cleaner – there is too much over-hanging plant material that falls into the pool and big pile of pool chemicals left sitting in the corner of the pool which I don’t like. We would stay at Mahagiri again, but I think we would select a two-bedroom villa for the bigger/ cleaner pool and easier access.

Long overdue review!!! Our family stayed here last November and we had an amazing stay!! This place is paradise!!! Not only are the villas immaculate but the staff are beyond helpful and thoughtful!! Dewa, the Operations Manager and Juwita treated our family like VIPs!! We’ve stayed at many different places and this is definitely one of our favorites!! Can’t wait to come back!!!
