Good hotel for budget stay
Good hotel for travelling with children and a budget hotel. Picked this hotel as we booked last minute and most hotels were either sold out or extremely expensive. Great location, 2 mins away from the tram and walking distance to all popular tourist attractions. Breakfast was hit and miss and not much selection. The pancake maker kept running out of pancakes and would take a while to get refilled. No option for omlettes or fried eggs, however the croissants were amazing, so soft and fresh. Stayed half board too, which isn't bad but some of the meals were out of stock and not much option for children. First 2 nights the nuggets were out of stock and they wouldn't make a burger. Good value for a filling meal however and an easy option if travelling with children, but loads of good restaurants nearby in the old town. Otherwise, the room was comfortable and staff were helpful. Rooftop pool was good. Only small but very cold. Overall, good hotel if you want a comfortable good value stay in nice.
Money stolen from the room
The stay at the hotel was disappointing. There are numerous drawbacks that have occurred, however, the biggest issue of staying in the hotel is the fact that EUR 500 were stolen from my room. I have noticed that the next morning and immediately went to the reception to notify them. They have called room service and later on they told me that the cleaning staff denied that they took any money from my room. As soon as I was leaving France this day, I was trying to get the reception members check the security cameras as quickly as possible. 4 hours later, at the time of the check out, they told me that they ‘did not have time to check the footage’… and the administration manager also told me that this is definitely not the member of staff who stole the money as they ‘swore’ it was not them… The security is the top priority of any stay and stealing money is unacceptable even in a 2 start hotel. FYI - I obviously did not receive any cash or even an apology :)
Wonderful staff bring the rating up from a 2
Firstly, let me express just how wonderful the staff are here. Extremely helpful, knowledgeable and customer service, especially from the bar and restaurant was absolutely superb. Thank you. The hotel itself is a different matter. We had an Executive room and we honestly thought we'd been ripped off by our travel agents and booked into low budget accommodation until we saw the daily tariff. Check-in is an unreasonable 4pm so we were hot, sweaty and tired when we got to our room. Straight into the shower. The shower gel had run out (I did ask the cleaning lady for more but she said it wasn't part of her routine and it was not topped up all week) so I used hand soap instead but when I stepped out, I realised the shower was blocked and the water had run all the way into the bedroom and soaked the carpet. We thought we'd better report it and they did send an engineer who apparently said it was too far gone to fix and would we like more towels to soak up the water in future? Anyway, we finished up using the local swimming pool to get a decent shower - which was glorious. The TV was huge and slippers and robes included. Also, essential oils for the shower and 3 coffee pods for the machine. Lovely. So if luxuries can be found why only supply paper cups and no milk with only a couple of sachets of sugar? Found myself washing up cardboard to reuse which is never a good thing. Then there are the lifts. Only 2 to cover 7 floors. Honestly, it was like a scene from Benny Hill crossed with Fawlty Towers watching people with heavy luggage spending half an hour trying to get off at the right floor. The trouble is you then start to notice silly design faults like the toilet being too small to get in and out of without breathing in or the luggage shelf too narrow to open a suitcase on, or that there was no way to get anything dry in the room. So we thought we'd put it all behind us and relax at the pool. No. It was tiny, crowded and not a chance of getting a sunbed, even after 5pm. Breakfast was excellent. No complaints there. I would advise a different brand of 'English Tea' (very weak) but we were in France so that's probably not fair of me. I hate giving bad reviews and the staff really are doing the best they can. If it wasn't for them we'd have booked another hotel and lost the money for this one. Thank you to all involved for making it less of a disaster than it could have been.
