Club Med - Valmorel

Set in the Tarentaise Valley, if you prefer authenticity over concrete then you’ll spend a happy week or so enjoying brilliant sport, long walks alongside enchanting mountain lakes and a place that combines modern convenience with old fashioned Alpine warmth.

Take a trip to the edge of a forest on the side of the Cheval Noir Mountain. Here you’ll find Valmorel, a mini-time machine of courtyards, side streets and chalets, made from traditional materials rather than steel and glass.

In the summer, wander the valleys with mountain guides, soak up the alpine air cycling along forest trails, then indulge with dinner prepared by the ‘maître de chalet’ at your private dining table.

The ski area around Valmorel is generally family-friendly with plenty of green and blue runs. If you’re looking for something more challenging ask an expert to accompany you to the Massif de la Lauzière. You’ll pretty much have the slopes to yourself as its daunting reputation puts off all but the bravest skiers.



Tour down a tree-lined route to the small village of Doucy and explore its charms before heading back up the incline to carry on with your fun. Watch the kids sled in the snow garden, race down the Grand Domaine slopes or snowshoe across the Aigueblanche valley. In the evening, play in the indoor pool then delight your taste buds with a variety of gourmet savoyard dishes.

The village is sleepy but stimulating with a full street of modern shops and places for you and the family to picnic. The lack of cars makes it a refreshing break from the worries of modern life.
