Club Med - Valmorel

Hidden behind a curtain of spruce trees at 1,460 metres, Club Med Valmorel is a beautiful all-inclusive resort perfect for ski-breaks, spa retreats and family summer holidays in the mountains. Known as ‘Valmorel la Belle’, it’s a simply beautiful little village which has retained its charm partly thanks to being located off the radar of many holidaymakers.

Experience the heart of Savoy

Set in the Tarentaise Valley, if you prefer authenticity over concrete then you’ll spend a happy week or so enjoying brilliant sport, long walks alongside enchanting mountain lakes and a place that combines modern convenience with old fashioned Alpine warmth.

Take a trip to the edge of a forest on the side of the Cheval Noir Mountain. Here you’ll find Valmorel, a mini-time machine of courtyards, side streets and chalets, made from traditional materials rather than steel and glass.

In the summer, wander the valleys with mountain guides, soak up the alpine air cycling along forest trails, then indulge with dinner prepared by the ‘maître de chalet’ at your private dining table.

The ski area around Valmorel is generally family-friendly with plenty of green and blue runs. If you’re looking for something more challenging ask an expert to accompany you to the Massif de la Lauzière. You’ll pretty much have the slopes to yourself as its daunting reputation puts off all but the bravest skiers.

Tour down a tree-lined route to the small village of Doucy and explore its charms before heading back up the incline to carry on with your fun. Watch the kids sled in the snow garden, race down the Grand Domaine slopes or snowshoe across the Aigueblanche valley. In the evening, play in the indoor pool then delight your taste buds with a variety of gourmet savoyard dishes.

The village is sleepy but stimulating with a full street of modern shops and places for you and the family to picnic. The lack of cars makes it a refreshing break from the worries of modern life.

Short but sweet stay at Club Med Valmorel

Apr 2022 | AnandLondon

Due to a delayed flight, we reached Club Med well past the closing time of the restaurant. Even then, we had a wonderful chef, Guillame, who enquired our dietary preferences, got the chef to cook up a quick veg medley and served it to us. That basically set the tone for the rest of the stay for us with amazing friendly service in all areas of the property. We went with our 6 month old and used the Baby Club Med where our baby was well looked after. Our 10 year old had fun with the junior ski groups while we had a good time with the adult skiers. There was only one disappointment at the end of our journey - our return shuttle to the airport , a taxi came up without a baby seat. While the driver was apologetic, it delayed our journey back to the airport as he had to wait for another driver to bring the car seat. The baby seat wasn;t comfortable and our baby was crying all the way to the airport in Geneva. It wasn't a good experience and I wish that the reception staff had booked the taxi with a baby seat in the first instance. Apart from this, the rest of our journey was wonderful and we will certainly revisit Club Med

Hands down best holiday ever

We stayed at Club Med Valmorel between 13th and 20th March 2022 as part of a group of 4 families, each with 2 children (party of 16 people). This was by far the best holiday we have all had and are now converts to Club Med ski holidays having previously always stayed in catered ski chalets. From the first moment of arriving at the hotel we were all struck by how friendly the staff were from the reception team, night porters and kid's club to the restaurant and bar staff and electricians! The food is of an exceptional quality with so much variety for all (sushi, sashimi, oysters, fresh seafood, beef wellington, foie gras to mention a few) and was great to have premium drinks included with bottled wine on the table and a great array of cocktails. It was such a nice surprise to have the outside bar/snacks and DJ (great music sets each day - we just wish he played for longer!). Ibrahim in the restaurant deserves a special mention and ensured we had a large enough table reserved for us all to sit each each meal and kept us well stocked with drinks. Natalie who helped outside for the late morning snacks on the slopes was also great. The kid's club staff were so attentive and made our children feel so welcome. Amazing that child care as available for so many hours of the day and the children often didn't want to leave! The quality of the show was also amazing and our kids loved taking part. Big shout out to Luca, Cam, Sally, Arthur, Valentine, Sam, Hillary, Angie, Patrick, Nathan, Tom and Lucile. By the end of the week, all 8 children could confidently ski blue runs (most having never skied before) and we were able to ski as a group. It is incredible value to have all day ski lessons for both adults and children, with a dedicated Club Med ESF team and ski passes. Big shout out to Remy and John C (2B or not 2B!) from ESF. Overall the attention to detail in this resort was second to none and the hotel is spotless. Rooms were well appointed and comfortable. We are definite Club Med converts and look forward to booking with Club Med next year. Please pass on all our thanks to the staff mentioned above.

A new experience

Never stayed at Club Med before and this was our first time outside the school holiday period in 15 years. The food, entertainment and facilities are amazing. If you prefer a quieter experience, there was an A la carte restaurant, all included as part of the package and a quiet bar area away from the main bar/entertainment. The staff were friendly, enthusiastic and helpful. The best part of the whole experience was the all inclusive package. We all know about the ever increasing cost of lift passes, but these were include together with 5 days of all day ESF lessons, flights, transfers, food and non-premium beverages. I would highly recommend for couples and families.
