VOI Vila do Farol Resort

Voi Vila do Farol

Voi Vila do Farol is an All Inclusive hotel in a quiet area on the southern tip of the island of Sal in Cape Verde. Guests' rooms are set amid the tree-filled gardens. The hotel is steps away from sandy Santa Maria beach, the most popular beach on the island, where it has its own designated section. In the hotel grounds, there's an outdoor pool with a separate section especially for children, surrounded by a sun terrace and with a pool bar close by. During the day, you could also play tennis or table tennis, or join in with activities like beach volleyball or basketball. If you'd rather unwind and be pampered, you could book a massage. Children might like to explore the clubhouse and playground or take part in the daily organised activities. Once the sun's gone down, the hotel offers entertainment, including a Cape Verde night with dinner, dancing and a show one evening a week. The bustling town of Santa Maria, with plenty of cafÈs, bars and restaurants, is within walking distance of Voi Vila do Farol. To reach the town, you can simply stroll along the seafront, taking in the ocean views as you go.

VOI Vila do Farol Resort is set on the beach. It's about a 150m walk, accessed via steps, across the sand to the water. The seafront begins about 100m from the hotel and there's lighting along the beach on the way to Santa Maria town, 1.6km away. Should you need any supplies, the nearest supermarket is 2km from the hotel. Santa Maria has bars and restaurants ñ considered one of the best selections in the archipelago. From here, you could also take a trip inland to explore the island's desert landscape, visit the old salt flats and float in the saltwater pools.

The hotel provides a buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner, with local alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. The snack bar offers late breakfasts and light lunches. The pool bar serves drinks during the day, and the lobby bar is open until midnight. Light dishes, such as pizza and salad, are available in the afternoon.

The hotel offers a variety of sports, including beach volleyball. Activities are organised daily for children aged 3 to 13 and there's also a clubhouse.

At the pool area there are sun ""roofs"" for some sun loungers. The pool is 120 cm deep, the child's section is 20-50 cm deep. At Vila do Farol the beach is wide and nice and from the hotel and down to the water it is about 200 meters. The hotel has its own part of the beach where sun loungers and sunbeds are included for hotel guests.

Rooms are in bungalows set around the hotel grounds. They have a small terrace each, as well as a minibar and satellite TV channels.

God food and very god service. The beds are very poor. The hotel is very fray with toilet doors you cant lock and chairs that falling apart. All entertinment are in italian. This is a hotel mostly for Italian people so if your dont speak Italian find another hotel.

Not a good destination for Brits,as stated in previous reviews it is 100% Italian, wife and i we're billy no mates for two weeks but with only 1 morning of rain in two weeks the weather made up for it.The food is ok,sprout salad is a new one on me.This place is very dated, chalets are more like 1960's Butlins,There is little shade on the beach and its a long walk for toilets & drinks. At night there is only one bar open which gets very crowded with big queues on occasion, they need to open the snack restaurant bar by the pool for those seeking a quieter atmosphere and a seat. The rooms are ok but be warned, the beds are so hard you won't sleep well, air con was noisy but worked well as did the shower. The room safe is included but the pool towels require a 20 euro deposit each which is exactly the amount of departure tax you pay at checkout. The pool area is big and the nice thing about this being Italian owned and run is that the guests are far too laid back to fight over sunbeds at 6am.I would go down about 8 to 8'30 and there would be 4 or 6 towels in the entire pool area, the pool and area are ok but an injection of about 3 inches of sand over the whole area is needed to cover the gravelly areas but the sand is a nice touch. The sea is always rough and not for the faint hearted so if your a beach person this is not for you. We booked thru an agent and despite applying for visas online before we left assuming they we're paid for we had to pay 32 euros each on arrival so be aware.

This is not the ideal resort if you want to speak with other English tourists. Most of the team planned everything around Italians. The food was mainly Luke warm and boring. Accommodation was clean and adequate. In the 14 days we were there we only met two other Brits.
