    Gran Canaria weather August

What’s the weather like in Gran Canaria in August?

Located around 150km off the west coast of North Africa, you'll get lots of hot and sunny weather if you're going to Gran Canaria in August. It’s the hottest month of the year and you'll be nice and dry at this time. The centre of Gran Canaria’s dominated by high mountains that shelter the south from north easterly winds. You'll be warmer and drier here, although things are cooler and wetter in the mountains themselves. The Canary Current will stop you from getting too hot although the Sahara Desert does its best to push temperatures up when it sends hot winds over.

The average high in Gran Canaria is 28ºC in August, which is perfect for relaxing on the beach or by the pool. Things stay lovely and warm in the evenings, which cool to 20ºC. The sea temperature’s 22ºC while humidity’s moderate. There’s not usually any rain in August and you can expect 13 hours of daylight with nine hours of sunshine each day. UV levels will be extremely high so make sure you're using lots of sun cream. The sun goes down just before 9pm at the start of the month, making it ideal for al fresco dining.
