What's the weather like in Playa del Carmen in January?
Located in Mexico on the Yucatan Peninsula, Playa del Carmen is a beautiful beach resort with a tropical climate. There are high temperatures all year round, although there’s a distinct wet and dry season in the region. January falls within the dry period, making this month a popular time to visit Playa del Carmen. Sit back on the beach and enjoy the sunshine without the threat of rain, but make sure you protect yourself with plenty of sun cream and seek shade in the hottest part of the day.

In January, the average temperature in Playa del Carmen is 23ºC, reaching highs of 28ºC in the peak of the afternoon. After dark, temperatures dip to a pleasant 19ºC, perfect for evenings out in the resort as you enjoy a meal or a few cocktails in one of the beachside bars. Just 17mm of rain’s expected this month, so there isn’t much chance of wet weather at this time of year. If you want to go for a dip in the sea, the Caribbean waters are a bath-like 27ºC in January.
