What’s the weather like in Cancun in January?
Cancún’s one of Mexico’s best holiday destinations, and has tropical weather with high temperatures all year round. This is because it’s at the tip of the Yucatán Peninsula on the Caribbean Sea. You’ll get lots of sun if you’re going in January, which is a great time to visit as it’s in the dry season. This is from November to April, so January’s one of the year’s driest months. If it does rain it’s usually just a short shower.
The average high in Cancún is 28ºC in January, so it’s perfect for escaping the chilly UK weather. Things stay nice and warm in the evenings, which only cool to 18ºC. The sea temperature is 26ºC, which is lovely for swimming, while humidity’s moderate. There’s 69mm of rain over six days, and you can expect 11 hours of daylight with six hours of sunshine each day. UV levels will be high so make sure you bring plenty of sun cream. The sun goes down at around 6.30pm through most of the month.
