What’s the weather like in Golden Sands in January?
It’s the coldest time of the year to visit this wonderful beach resort in Bulgaria, with temperatures usually a degree or two lower than in December and February. Rain is quite light for winter though and the sun still shines, which means you can explore the beach promenades and nearby towns and forests.Geographical influences
Golden Sands is found on the north coast of Bulgaria’s sandy Black Sea shoreline. In the summer it has an amazing Mediterranean-like climate, but in winter months like January it can get cold winds which move south from northern Europe. There’s no snow here though like in some mountainous parts of Bulgaria.Averages
The weather in Golden Sands in January is cold and crisp, with an average temperature of 5°C. At night time this can drop to -2°C on the coldest nights. Even though the rainfall will average 40mm, only around eight days will see some showers and these can pass quite quickly. Sunshine keeps breaking up any cloud, with four hours on average in Golden Sands during January. The average sea temperature is too low to take a swim, at 7°C, but the winds are only moderate at 10mph so there’s not much wind chill around the resort.
