      Borovets

With its position on the northern slopes of the Rila Mountains in Bulgaria, the resort of Borovets has a very ski-friendly climate. Winter is cold and snowy while the summer can be very mild and pleasant with just a few showers spread over the month. Temperatures are in the mid-twenties during the summer with chilly lows of -5°C in winter. Warmer weather is attributed to mild air coming in from both the Ionian and the Aegean Sea. The sea also carries calming winds that can feel very refreshing during peak times of the day. Although Borovets is beautiful in the summer, the best time to go to Borovets for skiing and making the most out of the surrounding slopes is from December to early March. There’s an average of 150 days of snow coverage each year, which covers the mountains in a thick blanket of soft, white snow. The best time to visit Borovets for mild weather is the spring when temperatures reach highs of 11°C and snow begins to melt. It’s not as warm as the summer, but it’s great if you want to avoid the icy weather of winter and still enjoy up to 14 hours of sunlight each day.
