Holidays in PortAventura

Perfect for families and couples who love nothing more than having a good time will enjoy holidays to PortAventura. Built in 1997, PortAventura is less a resort and more a series of gigantic theme parks, giving you all the family entertainment you could ever need, right on your doorstep. It’s a mere 10-minute drive from the sun-bleached beaches of pretty Salou, allowing you to enjoy the best of a traditional beach break combined with the thrills and spills on offer at the theme parks. However, if you want it all on a plate, there are some superb onsite hotels, giving you direct access to the rides, slides, flumes, shows and shops, as often as you like. There are even pools and sunloungers available, so worn-out parents can catch some rays, while older children can make the most of everything this outstanding resort has to offer.

10°C - 24°C °C

If you’re looking to get some tanning done between banana boat rides, July and August are the hottest months, with the mercury hovering between the mid and high twenties. For fewer crowds and cooler conditions, book your PortAventura holidays in late spring or early autumn.

Thrill-seekers can get their hearts pumping on a selection of rollercoasters, in themed areas such as Far West, Mexico and China. Though many of the popular activities in the park have height requirements, younger children can still be part of the fun on the park’s junior rides. Between attractions, stop for a bite to eat at one of the restaurants or snack bars. The huge variety here means you can pick a different cuisine for every meal!

Perfect for pint-sized petrol-heads and wannabe-Sebastian Vettels, Ferrari Land is a theme park that celebrates every aspect of the famous Italian sports cars. The Vertical Accelerator is the highest and fastest ride of its kind in Europe, while the 55-metre-high Bounce-Back Towers will test your ability to hang onto your lunch! For lower-tempo thrills, take the family for a spin around the racing circuit, test drive one of eight exciting simulators, or make a pit-stop in the trattoria restaurant beside replicas of famous Italian landmarks. There’s even a gift shop based on the factory owned by Enzo Ferrari himself!

With 40 rides to enjoy and up to 40 shows to sit back and watch, there’s something for everyone at this outstanding theme park. Try out Europe’s highest rollercoaster: the 78-metre-high Shambhala, while if it’s speed you need, the Furius Baco should see you leaving your eyebrows somewhere behind you as you reach speeds of up to 135kmph! You’ll find water-cannon battles, pyrotechnic displays, canoe rides, mirrored mazes, waterslides and everything you could need to make your PortAventura holidays special.

Younger children who are either too small or too scared to tackle the big rides needn’t feel left out: PortAventura caters for kids of all ages. The Sesame Street Adventure was designed with younger visitors in mind and features 10 rides, a smaller drop-tower, and the fun-filled chaos of Elmo’s farm. Bert, Ernie and their friends are always nearby for photos and fun. PortAventura also offers a smaller wooden rollercoaster in Far West, junior canoe ride in Polynesia and several children’s attractions and junior coasters in Mexico.

With themed restaurants serving cuisine from virtually every corner of the world, you’ll find food to please even the pickiest of palates. On top of the buffet restaurants, snack bars, ice cream parlours and coffee shops, you’ll find that the various districts have themed restaurants with table service and children’s menus. Far West has an old-fashioned steakhouse, Polynesia serves exotic salads and tropical juices in the middle of a rainforest, while China offers three restaurants with international, Cantonese and Sichuan cuisine. You can feast on authentic Mexican dishes while watching folk dancing, or, in Mediterrània, dine al fresco overlooking the lake.

Discover the extended and renovated Costa Caribe Aquatic Park, with more than 50,000 square metres of watery fun. The waterpark is carefully themed and designed with waterfalls, huge pools, green areas full of plants and palm trees, and an amazing pirate ship manned by a crew of Sesame Street characters. A great combination of excitement and relaxation with one single goal: for the whole family to experience a unique Caribbean adventure but without the long flight!
