Thrill seekers can take their pick from a selection of roller coasters across the park, in themed areas such as Far West, Mexico and China. Though many of the popular activities in PortAventura have height requirements, younger children can still get an adrenaline rush on the park’s junior rides. Between attractions, stop for a bite to eat at one of the restaurants or snack bars. The huge variety here means you can pick a different cuisine for every meal.
Buckle up for a trip to Ferrari Land, PortAventura World’s brand new theme park. Opening in April 2017, this exciting attraction is all about celebrating the famous Italian sports car brand. Speed freaks will love the Vertical Accelerator - the tallest and fastest ride of its kind in Europe - and the 55 metre-high Bounce-Back Towers aren’t for the faint-hearted. Take the family for a spin around the racing circuit, test drive one of eight exciting simulators, or refuel in the trattoria restaurant beside replicas of famous Italian landmarks. There’s even a gift shop based on the factory owned by Enzo Ferrari himself.
PortAventura features 40 rides and up to 40 shows. Shambhala is Europe’s highest roller coaster, with a 78-metre fall, while Furius Baco is one of Europe’s fastest rides. One of the newest attractions in PortAventura is Angkor: Lost Kingdom of Cambodia, which involves joining a water cannon battle through a Cambodian jungle. Regain your strength in one of the show zones, watching pyrotechnic pros. You can also take a canoe ride in Polynesia, wind through a mirrored maze in Mexico, or zoom down Europe’s highest free-fall water slide in Costa Caribe Aquatic Park.
Those too small to enjoy Europe’s tallest and fastest coasters won’t feel left out on a holiday in PortAventura; SésamoAventura (Sesame Street Adventure) was made especially for them. The area’s 10 rides include a smaller drop tower and a visit to Elmo’s farm. The district has two shows, whilst Bert, Ernie and their friends are always nearby for photos and fun. PortAventura also offers a smaller wooden rollercoaster in Far West, junior canoe ride in Polynesia and several children’s attractions and junior coasters in Mexico.
Even the pickiest of diners will find many places to eat in PortAventura. Buffet restaurants, snack bars, ice cream parlours and coffee shops are situated throughout both parks, and several PortAventura districts have themed restaurants with table service and children’s menus. Far West has an old fashioned steakhouse; Polynesia serves exotic salads and tropical juices in the middle of a rainforest. China offers three restaurants with international, Cantonese and Sichuan cuisines. You can feast on authentic Mexican cuisine whilst watching folk dancing, or, in Mediterrània, dine alfresco overlooking the lake.
