What’s the weather like in Vienna in February?
It’s slightly milder than January and December, but the Vienna weather in February is still cold and often below freezing. The night temperatures are extremely cold and there may be light snow showers around the historic and cultural Austrian capital.
Geographical influences
The ancient city of Vienna, with a rich history in the arts and world-famous architecture, is found in north-east Austria. It’s to the east of the Alps and gets much less snowfall than Austrian towns in the west and south. Vienna’s on the banks of the Danube River and is too far inland to suffer from cold sea breezes in winter.
Averages
Wrap up warm and pack waterproof layers, because the weather in Vienna in February is cold and showery. The daytime high temperature will only be about 4°C, but you can expect this to be several degrees colder most days. At night, it’ll drop well below freezing. Luckily, the wind speed’s moderate and there’s not too much wind chill. You won’t need your sunglasses very often. The sun shines for three hours, on average, from ten hours of daylight. About 13 days will have some rainfall, with only a little wintery weather in this part of Austria.
