What’s the weather like in Mauritius in February?
Lying close to the Tropic of Capricorn, Mauritius is a stunning island in the Indian Ocean off the southeast coast of Africa. This means it has tropical weather with high temperatures all year round and a distinct wet and dry season. The summer months from November to April are the wettest, while the cooler and drier season runs from June to September. You’ll see plenty of rain if you’re going in February, although you’ll still get lots of hot and sunny weather too. South easterly winds and the surrounding sea will help to keep you cool. You’ll be warmest and driest in the north and west because of the mountains, while things are warmer on the coast than inland.
The average high in Mauritius is 30ºC in February, which only drops to 22ºC at night. You won’t need to bring many warm clothes with you, but a room with air conditioning’s a good idea. At 28ºC, the sea’s perfect for swimming, while humidity’s high. There’s 242mm of rain over 17 days, but you can still expect 13 hours of daylight and eight hours of sunshine each day. UV levels will be extremely high so remember your sun cream. Sunset’s around 6.45pm.
