Geographical influences
Hurghada benefits from an idyllic location on the east coast of Egypt. It’s just 10km south of the popular resort of El Gouna. The Red Sea gently washes against Hurghada’s sandy beaches and the sea breeze is very refreshing in the heat. Resorts inland, like Cairo and Luxor, don’t benefit from this comforting wind.

The weather in Hurghada in October attracts many visitors who want to relax in the brilliant temperatures and sunny skies. The average high temperature’s 32°C, with a normal daytime average around 27°C. On cooler days this will only drop to about 23°C. As you’d expect, the UV levels are quite high at this time and you’ll need sunblock when you’re exploring the beaches, markets and towns in eastern Egypt. It’s also a good idea to take a bottle of water, as the humidity will be about 51%. Sunshine averages a fantastic ten hours a day by the Red Sea in October, with the sun rising at 5.40am and not disappearing until 5.30pm. There’s hardly any rain during the month and on average the resort gets just 3mm. The sea temperature will be about 27°C and is a good place to cool off on warm days.
