What’s the weather like in Bavaro in May?
May marks the start of the wet season in Bavaro. This means it sees higher temperatures and more rainfall than usual. But don’t let the rain get you down, it’s a nice break from the heat and gives you the chance to try different restaurants for shelter and great food.
Geographical influences
Located on the Dominican Republic’s east coast, Bavaro has exceptional weather thanks to its tropical climate. Since May falls within the wet season, you’ll need to be prepared for rain and high humidity. When it’s not raining, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to bask in the sun, sunbathe beneath palm trees and snorkel in the beautiful coral reefs.

May has an average temperature of 26°C and 13 hours of lovely sunshine. The temperature tends to increase towards the end of the month, reaching highs of 28°C by the time April comes around. There's 156mm of rainfall, so the chance that it'll rain during your stay is very likely. Pack a light raincoat and seek shelter in one of the local cafes, where you can enjoy a cup of coffee with friends until the sun comes back out. Thankfully, the rain never stays long, lasting only a short while before the sun reclaims the sky for itself. Humidity is high in May, averaging at around 78% but this is controlled by the 11 mph winds.
