What’s the weather like in Vietnam in October?
If you fancy something different and want to escape Europe in autumn, then the sunny skies and wonderful climate of Vietnam could be perfect for you. The Vietnam weather in October is very warm, but you will get some tropical rain in this amazing part of south east Asia.
Geographical influences
The main influence on the weather in Vietnam in October are the south west monsoons, which run from May to October. These bring warm and humid clouds from the Indian Ocean and rainfall is higher in these months. The north of Vietnam, which includes Hanoi, is wetter than the south around cities like Ho Chi Minh.
Averages
The average daytime temperature in Vietnam in October is a brilliant 25°C. You can expect this to be as high as 30°C on hotter days in the south, which has a warmer climate than the north. This will fall to around 23°C at night, so it’s a good idea to make sure your hotel has air conditioning. The humidity level will be very high, at an average of 90%, and the UV level is also high so take water and sunblock with you when you’re exploring the cities and beaches. The sunshine is very enjoyable too, with an average of 11 hours each day in December. Rainfall in Ho Chi Minh could be over 200mm this month, but the showers can be short and it never feels cold in the tropical outbursts.
