It was half term week and although there was enough people to make it a sociable holiday, there were plenty of places you could be alone. No trouble getting beds in the waterpark - where we spent the whole week! Lots of little treats - champagne breakfast, slush puppies, cocktails all part of the all inclusive package. Rooms were spacious and clean. Food was varied and fresh. Never had to wait for a table. There were sunbeds available around the hotel pool if you wanted to stay by the hotel bar. There are no all inclusive alcoholic drinks served in the waterpark, but you can have soft drinks and hotdogs. Good bus service to Puerto Rico or Mogan. Lots of souvenir shops just outside hotel if you don't want to go anywhere. Never had to queue for slides. Entertainment is not fantastic, but I don't need anyone to entertain me! We were not able to keep our room on even though the hotel wasn't full but there was a good courtesy room provided.

not as bad as reviews left before.
After reading recent reviews about this hotel we was expecting the worst holiday but... when we arrived at the hotel we was pleasantly suprised. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The reception area is lovely clean an tidy with lovely water feature as you go in.
Rooms - We stayed in a standard double room, nice and clean to start with. We had to request extra pillows which were brought to room within minutes. Nice patio area which had table an 2 chairs and overlooked the whole complex with sea views (floor 5) only downside was that on 2 occasions we noticed the drainage system backed up into our bath from toilet but nothing that coukdnt be washed down again although wasnt pleasent smell.
pool side - the pool side was lovely to sit in an relax in sun , the pool was a little cold but nothing you couldn't swim in the pool side bar was open from 10am until 6pm serving alcohol beer wine or spirits (strong spirits so good if you plan to get drunk lol) self service fizzy, tea or coffee .. food was served 10.30am until 1pm then 3pm until 5pm only served hamburgers, hotdog sausages or ham/cheese toastie and ice cream in pots.
restaurant - breakfast was 8-10.30am and was okay, plently to choose from for all types of people only reason I say okay was because I didnt like the bacon or sausages but my partner did. Lunch was 1-3pm was lovely, really nice food freshly cooked infront of you at each station. Different bit of meat and fish was cooked and served each day so no repeated foods everyday. Thai food and pizzas all cooked fresh again different each day with a varity section in middle with lovely salad pasta paellas etcetc... Dinner was 6.30 -9pm and again this was lovely , different souo served everyday again aswell as meat or fish chips potatoes etc.. I had lasagne on monday then stayed 10 nights and wasnt served again. Lovely staff and food here, even childrens own little buffet area was sectioned off for families with adults only section available too .. I didnt see any children running around food area at all .
The hotel have their own animation team and they are brilliant, really friendly and actually quite funny too. They have various activities going on all day at the poolside.
they then do the evening entertainment in the arena outside in the middle of the complex. Children disco starts at 8pm and then adult evening starts at 9.30 until 11pm. As the entertainment is in an outdoor arena if you wish to have an early nightyou can hear it still going from your hotel room.
The waterpark - we only went in here twice as the water was freezing aswell as really salty wen I got out the pool and dried off you could see the salt on my back an hair. The slides are good fun though and sunbeds are 2euros each. Poolside bar here is same as hotel.
Area - we found the area a little secluded as once you arrive there is no where to go unless you get on the bus or get a taxi.
the area itself is paradise complex with around 6hotels altogether. Waterpark in the middle with the outside arena nearby. There is a row of shops but pretty much all sell the same items so abit silly. Supermarket on site very high priced for certain items but okay. The beach is around 3minutes walk away with black sand was nice to walk along.
Would recommend you get bus into nearby towns as only 1.40 euro per person we went into puerto Rico which was lovely especially the harbour, we found an irish pub to the left of the harbour which was lovely really friendly. McDonald's was good too lol.
If you get the bus the other way you go into puerto mogan which again is beautiful with harbour they have a market day on Fridays. You can catch boat trips from each of these towns too.
On the hotel complex is a little hut with people inside offering you free trips to Anfi .. a 5* holiday complex which is absolutely beautiful they pay for your taxi to an from anfi and include gift trips etc aslong as you agree to look around the anfi island highly recommend this for a day out.
Things to concider - If you want a tv remote control these are 10euro deposit ... the safe in the rooms are 33 euro per week plus 10 deposit and the wifi (what wifi??) Theg offer wifi for 6euro per day or 25euro per week but its only useable in reception , wifi dont work in the rooms.
we used the computers in the reception it seemed much easier.
all inclusive stops at 11pm so if you want to drink in the indoor hotel bar you have to pay after 11pm.
All in all was a good holiday for us , family friendly place too.

Great week in Playa Taurito
Had a great relaxing week at Lago Taurito. Great facilities for our 14 year old daughter. Hotel better than expected. Clean and tidy. Good choice of food.

hotel was just fantastic, area was great and felt safe, very relaxing holiday. the main pool and water slides were closed for re-furb when we were there. that was the main reason we booked the holiday, for the large central pools and activities, disappointing Thomas Cook never told us before we left. I heard others got the choice to change there destination, we didnt. bit of a let down on that score.

this was our second visit to the lago taurito in 2 years. last year it was just my husband and i and we said that we would return with our 2 children (9 and 7) the following year. we were not disappointed and nor were they!. they had a fab time. the resort is small consisting of only 5 large hotels and there is hardly any traffic, most of resort is pedestrianised so is safe for children. there is a water park in the middle of the resort which we could gain free entry to. the beach is small and black sand and has a variety of watersports. it is only 100m from the hotel. the hotels miniclub was perfect for the ages of my 2 children and the animation team worked really hard making sure all guests had a good time, especially simone. the staff at the hotel were really friendly and helpful, in particular all the staff at reception. the rooms were comfortable, adequately equipped and cleaned everyday. the food was good and plentiful. it was not as varied as some places we have stayed but was fine for a family holiday. the thomas cook rep was fantastic as we were stranded an extra 4 days on our holiday due to the volcanic ash. she kept us well informed and reassured that we could stay in our hotel room until flights resumed. thomas cook were fantastic in dealing with this difficult situation and we could not fault them at all. we shall be returning again next year.
