What's the weather like in Funchal in October?
Funchal is the capital of Madeira, a Portuguese island in the Atlantic Ocean. The island has a Mediterranean climate with hot summers and cooler winters, with October falling midway between the two. At this time of year, temperatures are gradually getting lower as the winter months draw near. Funchal is still warm and sunny in October though, making this the ideal month for sightseeing, as long as you don’t mind a few rain showers.
Averages
In October, the average temperature in Funchal is 21°C, reaching highs of 23°C in the hottest part of the afternoon and dropping to an average low of 19°C after dark. Although it’s autumn, UV levels are still high so you’ll need to be careful in the direct sunlight. Around 100mm of rain’s expected across 12 wet days this month, so it’s worth bringing a light waterproof jacket in case of showery weather.
