In April, things are starting to warm up as springtime arrives, while the amount of rain expected is falling after the wetter months. If you want to explore the city and other parts of Madeira, April is a great month to visit Funchal away from the high season crowds.

Although you can enjoy 11 hours of sunshine each day in April, you’ll need some warmer layers for evenings out in the city, with temperatures falling to 14ºC at night. Around 50mm of rain’s expected this month, which usually falls in short showers, and is spread over nine wet days.
