Pay a visit to one of the most unique attractions in Las Vegas and discover iconic signage from across the ages at the Neon Museum. Founded in the late nineties, the museum salvages and preserves Las Vegas signs from the 1930s onwards, capturing the magic of the city from times gone by. The museum’s mainly outdoors, so get your sun cream on before browsing more than 200 rescued signs at the Neon Boneyard, a quirky salvage yard displaying the unusual treasures donated by Las Vegas businesses.
Visits are by guided tour only, so it’s worth booking ahead on the website. On the hour long tour, you’ll find out more about the stories behind each sign, including where it once stood, why it was created, and when it was retired.
Discover how the trends have changed in Las Vegas signage, how technology has evolved on the strip, and see the original signs for Las Vegas institutions including Caesars Palace and the Golden Nugget. As well as the Boneyard, there’s also a smaller indoor space at the former La Concha Motel lobby and the Neon Boneyard North Gallery, which can be used for photoshoots and weddings.
At the Gallery, you can see around 60 beautifully restored signs, including the museum’s very first project, the Hacienda Horse and Rider. For an extra-special experience, book a night time tour of the Neon Museum. The restored signs are spectacularly lit up, while the rescued signs in the Boneyard are also illuminated, meaning this is one museum visit you’ll never forget.
