If you love being surrounded by natural beauty, take a trip out of the city on your holiday to Las Vegas and visit Mount Charleston. Around 45 minutes by car from the Strip, it's the perfect place to complement the bright lights of the city with some peaceful sightseeing. Standing at over 3,600 metres tall, Mount Charleston is popular all year round for hiking, adventure sports and skiing.

If you have a hire car, you'll enjoy an easy drive to the mountain from the city, stopping along the way to soak up the spectacular scenery. There are also tours that you can go on to the mountain. Things are usually quite a bit cooler at Mount Charleston compared to in the city, something you'll be especially glad of over summer.

As you arrive at the foot of the mountain you'll see Charleston Peak soar above you, making for an excellent photo opportunity. Continue driving through the Spring Mountains up Kyle Canyon, across the Deer Creek Highway and back down Lee Canyon for more breathtaking scenery.

Go hiking through lush pine forests and stop for a picnic surrounded by beautiful wildflowers and interesting wildlife. You can ride a horse along the mountain trails, or go skiing and snowboarding over the winter months. When you're ready to leave Mount Charleston, make the short trip over to the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area to see more of the local area's incredible scenery. A

fter a day of sightseeing, head back to Las Vegas and go for a stroll through the Fremont Street Experience, where you can have dinner and some drinks while watching bands play live music.
