Orka Lotus Beach Hotel

Orka Lotus is a 5 star family-friendly hotel in Icmeler, on the southwest coast of Turkey. The resort overlooks the long, sandy Icon Beach, which extends down to the Içmeler Beach. Onsite there’s a wide range of fun activities for the children and plenty of choice when it comes to eating and drinking.

The outdoor fun for the children lasts all season thanks to the splash and aqua parks, featuring six slides and waterfalls. 4-12 year olds can join the kids club where the programme includes arts and crafts, team games and storytime. Guests of all ages can swim in the freshwater outdoor pools. Parents may choose to relax on one of the sunbeds or visit the fully equipped spa, boasting a sauna, steam room, Turkish bath and indoor swimming pool. It is also possible to book a treatment or haircut here (additional charge).

Stay active at the gym with its weights and strength equipment. Alternatively, join an aqua aerobics session or a dance class. If you prefer something that won’t make your heart race there’s also darts, table tennis and yoga.

The Pine restaurant at Orka Lotus offers a buffet service for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Or tuck into traditional Chinese, Turkish and Italian specialities in the a la carte eateries. The Italian has a smart dress code, while the wearing of beachwear is not permitted in any of the hotel’s diners. For a soft or alcoholic drink, there are a total of seven bars available, including three by the pools, one serving tapas snacks. After your evening meal, enjoy the night’s entertainment, which may include live music or karaoke, or let your hair down at the nightclub.

Rooms at Orka Lotus Beach are airy and modern with wooden floors. They all have a glass-fronted balcony, air conditioning, satellite TV, WiFi, a hairdryer, a minibar and coffee making facilities. Family options allow either four or five to share a large room. Upgrade to a superior room to benefit from your own whirlpool.

The hotel is 2km from the centre of Icmeler with its bustling promenade and Blue Flag beach. Here you may choose to eat at a traditional Turkish restaurant serving local specialities, or drop into one of the town's bakeries to taste the baklava pastries.

The resort is under 7km from the centre of Marmaris. Here you can visit a castle, which was reconstructed in the 17th-century and also houses a museum. The 16th-century Hafsa Sultan Caravanserai, a symbol of the city’s medieval hospitality, currently housing shops and taverns. ‘Heaven Island’ is just over half an hour's drive away from the hotel and it is not necessary to board a boat or cross a bridge to reach it, because it is in fact a peninsula. Nimara Cave is the top tourist attraction here, where it is believed there is evidence of human presence from 3,000 B.C. or even earlier. There’s also an observation deck with breathtaking views across the bay, the ideal place to take a new cover photo for your social media profile.

Phenomenal holiday! Staff/management cannot do enough for you at all times of day. Free drinks (what more do u need ) amazing views all around, plenty of options for day trips etc. Would highly recommend, in fact already booked again for next year!

Fabulous hotel

This was our third visit to this hotel. We love the location for the beautiful views and walking distance into either Iclemer or Marmaris. The hotel is modern and spacious with excellent facilities/spa/gym/indoor pool/4 outside pools plus Waterpark and kids pools (one of the pools is a quiet pool for adults only). We opted for a large room with seaviews which was fantastic. The service at the hotel is excellent and staff make you feel very welcome. There is a huge variety of food and lots of it served throughout the day. Lots of salad and fresh fruit and vegetables. Always fish, chicken and often steak.

Stunning views, great waterpark, excellent value

We are a family of 5 with 3 primary age children. We have thoroughly enjoyed our time at Orka Lotus in Icmeler. Great value, peaceful half term deal at the very end of the season here. The “Family of 5” room set up was literally ideal. Fellow travellers were a mixture of Russian and British families and couples along with a small number of Turkish families taking time out from the cities. Our children always had very nice friends to play with. Their favourite times were spent at the Waterpark - 6 fab slides, consistently joyful lifeguard Tolga, no queues, easy to keep an eye on them all from a sunbed. The pools would benefit from being a degree or two warmer at this time of year! They also loved the short mini disco each evening. As adults, we enjoyed the stunning views from our room, bar, patisserie and main restaurant, reminiscent of Thailand with steep mountains next to the ocean. The long paved boulevard goes all the way from icmeler to Mamaris and is ideal for jogging or walking. Gentle Yoga/Stretching/breathing exercises on the hotel pier and deck most days (weather dependent) was a delight. The gym is quite good too although could be opened earlier than 9am. Whilst the sand on the beach is a little coarse we really enjoyed our time there…sun beds always available, sheltered calm sea, pier to jump off, lots of small fishes to spot, beach bar very handy with clean toilets, changing cubicles and foot washing areas immediately nearby. The staff were cheerful and helpful. Rachel in guest services deserves a special mention as her prompt what’s app replies provided consistently good advice and quick fixes if needed. There were also nice touches eg. Quality ice cream every afternoon by the pool, waffles at the end of the day. The food is OK - the senior hotel staff recognises this and are planning improvements for next year … more themed stations catering for popular choices would make a really big difference. Nearby we found the Champagne Bar & Restaurant (in Icmeler) and BS Restaurant (on the beachside) excellent quality and reasonable prices to provide alternative to dining in the hotel for 14 nights. I visited Turkey 20 years ago and found the selling of restaurants and clothes aggressive at times. My experience in 2021 was very different - much, much more friendly and less pushy. On a final note, I would recommend departing 1 or 2 days before the actual end of the holiday season…it does get eerily quiet with reduced services.
