Orka Lotus is a 5 star family-friendly hotel in Icmeler, on the southwest coast of Turkey. The resort overlooks the long, sandy Icon Beach, which extends down to the Içmeler Beach. Onsite there’s a wide range of fun activities for the children and plenty of choice when it comes to eating and drinking.
The outdoor fun for the children lasts all season thanks to the splash and aqua parks, featuring six slides and waterfalls. 4-12 year olds can join the kids club where the programme includes arts and crafts, team games and storytime. Guests of all ages can swim in the freshwater outdoor pools. Parents may choose to relax on one of the sunbeds or visit the fully equipped spa, boasting a sauna, steam room, Turkish bath and indoor swimming pool. It is also possible to book a treatment or haircut here (additional charge).
Stay active at the gym with its weights and strength equipment. Alternatively, join an aqua aerobics session or a dance class. If you prefer something that won’t make your heart race there’s also darts, table tennis and yoga.
The Pine restaurant at Orka Lotus offers a buffet service for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Or tuck into traditional Chinese, Turkish and Italian specialities in the a la carte eateries. The Italian has a smart dress code, while the wearing of beachwear is not permitted in any of the hotel’s diners. For a soft or alcoholic drink, there are a total of seven bars available, including three by the pools, one serving tapas snacks. After your evening meal, enjoy the night’s entertainment, which may include live music or karaoke, or let your hair down at the nightclub.
Rooms at Orka Lotus Beach are airy and modern with wooden floors. They all have a glass-fronted balcony, air conditioning, satellite TV, WiFi, a hairdryer, a minibar and coffee making facilities. Family options allow either four or five to share a large room. Upgrade to a superior room to benefit from your own whirlpool.
The hotel is 2km from the centre of Icmeler with its bustling promenade and Blue Flag beach. Here you may choose to eat at a traditional Turkish restaurant serving local specialities, or drop into one of the town's bakeries to taste the baklava pastries.
The resort is under 7km from the centre of Marmaris. Here you can visit a castle, which was reconstructed in the 17th-century and also houses a museum. The 16th-century Hafsa Sultan Caravanserai, a symbol of the city’s medieval hospitality, currently housing shops and taverns. ‘Heaven Island’ is just over half an hour's drive away from the hotel and it is not necessary to board a boat or cross a bridge to reach it, because it is in fact a peninsula. Nimara Cave is the top tourist attraction here, where it is believed there is evidence of human presence from 3,000 B.C. or even earlier. There’s also an observation deck with breathtaking views across the bay, the ideal place to take a new cover photo for your social media profile.

Fantastic overall but room for improvement
The mail hall food was fantastic, ala carte not great rooms had lovely views and overall was great easter break. Beach with bar was brilliant. Room for improvement, pools were freezing Hired a water bungalow for the day with hot tub, it was freezing, food was not as discussed or advertised but was ok. Spa was charging different prices to guests, we paid 90e for 3 hr session and i spoke to another guest who paid just 50 for same package. It was not great at all. Most of the staff were happy in their work but there were two lobby bar staff members that were so rude it was ridiculous. We had a day or 2 of rain and there was no where for the children to play, they ended up kicking a football round the lobby area. Not ideal. Especially as there were no other indoor areas to sit in The indoor kids areas were not open or accessible. We would definitely go back but would like to see more areas for children to play indoors if weather was bad. Evening entertainment was also outdoors too so if it was too cold we gave it a miss
Dangerous hotel: Do not book
I’m still recovering from the trauma of staying at this hotel! So much so that it has put us off booking future holidays for quite some time. My son suffers from a peanut allergy and during a week long stay, he suffered from three allergic reactions that resulted in trips to A&E! This is all due to the hotel’s utter disregard for allergies. There is inconsistent allergen labelling and it’s often absent (eg in the lunch buffet and patisserie). The staff are also utterly useless, incompetent and clueless about the concept of allergies. They simply DO NOT CARE. We are always vigilant when it comes to food and possible contamination, looking at allergen labels etc. In this instance, it is pretty obvious that there was cross contamination in the kitchen as there is also a Chinese restaurant on site that uses peanuts in their dishes and there is maximum scope for cross continuation in the kitchen resulting in an allergic reaction simply by consuming margarita pizza and plain pasta, neither of which should contain peanuts! Do not visit the patisserie if you have an allergy. The man behind the counter was utterly thick and uncaring and served me a “chocolate cookie” that clearly contained peanuts even though I extensively questioned him about it prior to taking the cookie. It made my son very very unwell, he was rushed to A&E and this was day 2 of our holiday. We should have left the resort right away as it was so unsafe. He suffered 2 subsequent reactions on other days due to poor food practices and contamination in the kitchen. The staff are utterly rude and uncaring. Never have I been to a resort where the staff were so moronic, joyless and unfriendly. It was my first time in Turkey and a stay here has sadly left me with a REALLY POOR impression of Turkish hospitality and I don’t plan on returning! Other points: Upon arrival close to midnight, the reception was frosty. We were largely ignored. Very unpleasant and set the tone for the rest of the trip. The room was not set up correctly and there was no bed made up for my 6-year old boy. We had to wait to get someone to wheel in a bed and make it up for him. Not what anyone needs after a late arrival and especially not acceptable for a tired 6-year old. What a fantastic welcome (!) The room was ok, superficially cleaned. The sea view was obscured by trees so not really a sea view room as advertised and not what we paid for. The food: Aside from having the ability to potentially kill you if you are unlucky enough to suffer from an allergy, it was BLAND, REPETITIVE and overly greasy. The same food recycled for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Who the f has chips for breakfast?! Only chavs. The clientele: Basic tattooed types who are generally overweight. Makes you feel super skinny on the beach which is a bonus I guess. It’s not even a cheap hotel in terms of price which you’d think would make the clientele more discerning. But no! Staff: Uncaring and unfriendly. Never a smile or hello. Zero concept of hospitality. Metin from the reception stands out particularly in his joyless, unhelpful manner. No expression, just like a robot not actually listening to your concerns but tuning out entirely. The Waterpark: Dangerous with insufficient regard for health and safety as the “lifeguard” doesn’t care. He allows too many people through at once resulting in dangerous collisions coming off the slides. My son and husband got injured with a potential concussion. Location: This is the best thing about the hotel. So jaw droppingly beautiful. Shame the hotel is such a disappointment! The on site medical staff: They were supremely helpful and acted promptly when my son was undergoing an allergic reaction. Thank you for your prompt assistance.
Lovely place :))
This place is lovely, stayed there with my 2 kids. They have water park with slides they loved it. Its close to private beach as well. Food is very good lots of options to choose from.
