Great hotel but let down by the details

This is a lovely hotel situated a few miles away from Side. Large hotel however when we visited it clearly wasn’t fully booked (I’d hate to be there when busy) Cleanliness is second to non (apart from the spa showers which were filthy). Lots of staff cleaning toilets, rooms etc, however tables inside the restaurant or outside in the bar were never wiped down between guests and were often dirty. Pool- huge clean pool, large slides and a lovely children’s splash zone. However I didn’t see any children using the splash area and few went into the pool as it was icy!! Hotel management need to add a few degrees to the water. The entertainment team tried organising Aqua classes or water polo but no one wanted to go into the pool as it was so cold. Hated the music by the pool, when we first arrived it was mellow and chilled background music however quickly became loud clubbing music - hated’ slides were good although more control was needed as guests took the inflatable rings back to sun loungers to hold on to them. Get up early and do the German thing with the towels otherwise no seat. On last day my husband went down at 7am and most were reserved Food - quality of food was okay, what we expected. However the food and beverage team really need a shake up. Staff are uninterested in talking or even holding eye contact, apart from a nice bar man who worked upstairs in foyer bar and knew my daughters name no other staff members in the whole hotel engaged in conversation with us at all. We booked the ala carte Italian restaurant one night and it was the worst food I’d had all holiday. I stopped eating as it wasn’t worth the calories, lots of courses but quality was lost, definitely not Italian. The restaurant had no personality at all, non of them did. The buffet contained better quality food but the dining experience was not for us Bar staff - very hard to know what I could order, no cocktail menus, no spirits on display, and as staff didn’t engage with guests it was hard to order anything other than what you could see, Entertainment- we saw a few shows and watched some of the evening entertainment- I’ve seen far better at camp sites in France, I expected better. Sea view room??? Well I could see a slither of blue if you searched for it. We had a family room which was great for us and clean and comfortable. A few things were broken when we first arrived however they were immediately repaired when we reported. Mini bar just contained soft drinks and wasn’t filled up often. No light on the balcony which was disappointing as in the evening all seats inside were taken and on patio so we would have liked to sit out as a family, Beach - shuttle service convenient if not a bit dangerous. Seat belts don’t work, door doesn’t close, or driver tells you not to close it. One time I sat in the door way holding on for dear life but not as much as when we were all sandwiched into (barely) with me standing in the open door clinging on as my life did depend on it. Pluses- great location, plenty of choice with food, clean, covid safe, Let downs- icy pool, little personality from staff or restaurants. Ate out a lot during the week Photos show pool at night, harbour bar in the daylight, a beautiful sunset, my ‘sea view’ and the lovely honey served at breakfast- a favourite

Enjoyed the first AI experience & came out with a heavy stomach

Oct 2021 | asimm76

AI was an experience which we wanted to do for quite sometime Keeping our budget in mind & our requirements of a family type swimming pool + water slides, we carefully selected Crystal Sunset AI resort. Our experience from check in to check out was superb. The female at the counter was very kind & Polite & upgraded us to a bigger room, free of charge. The bedding & rooms were up to standard Food quality was good, nicely served & the variety kept on changing everyday. The servers served the food themselves & understood the requirement of quantity to be served. The variety of food was amazing Cocktails , mock-tails, coffee, desserts all were amazing & the servers kept on serving throughout the timings We do not consume alcohol, so cannot comment on it We did enjoy the water slides and I must say that it full filled a visit to a water park. The only thing I did not like & which would be the same in all AI's is the wastage of food. I would request all to eat & drink as much as you want too, but take a limited quantity first, try it & if u want more take it again
