“Ideal for first timers”
The river divides the festive old city, restaurants galore, and the newer retail therapy area; this hotel straddles the divide. Guggenheim is a short stroll along the river bank and Plaza Nueva, the pintxos epicentre of Bilbao, is right across. So location is perfect. Spacious suite with huge windows and a balcony. All modern amenities on board. Meticulous service with a smile and the staff goes an extra mile. We look forward to coming back soon.

“Really good”
This was a fantastic hotel, everything was perfect. The service was really good. The breakfast price differed depending on the day, which I think is a great idea for a hotel if they still have availability. We only paid 12.50 pp for our breakfast which was really good value for money. They told us about this at check in but gave us time to decide, this was all done very well.

“A very comfortable stay at the Sercotel Ayala”
Had a wonderful stay in the Sercotel Ayala last week - very central location in the city, within walking distance of most major sites, particularly the Casco Viejo and the Guggenheim. The room was clean and comfortable, and great value for money, while breakfast was excellent, particularly with the wide spread of offerings available. Despite being in the heart of Bilbao, the quiet atmosphere of the hotel each night was welcome after each busy day of activities, and the service offered by the staff was second to none. Would wholeheartedly recommend the hotel to family and friends.

“Location is fantastic, hotel clean and friendly, but choose a city view. room.”
The location is perfect, just on the edge of the old town, by the river, easily walkable to the Guggeheim and all the sights. Staff are very friendly, breakfast is good, and great value. The room and bathroom really clean. Is it 4* in the wider sense? Probably not. It lacks a bar or any real sense of extra luxury or space. It's a great city break hotel, probably slightly above a solid 3*. The room was adequate but not vast, but we got a city view room with a real king size bed (not 2 singles pushed together) and it was great. Beautiful full height windows, and a quirky triangular layout where they have maximized space It's not a boutique hotel, but it's ideally situated and entirely wonderful for a 2-3 day stay
