Make the most of the sunshine and spend the days on Kavos’ long, sandy beach, the ideal place to sit back with a drink and work on your tan. If you’re up for a bit of excitement, the water sports on offer include banana boats and jet skiing. Get the bus over to Aqualand and spend the day hitting the slides or chilling out on the lazy river, or book a boat trip and sunbathe right on the deck. The nights get going in Kavos long before the sun goes down, with cocktails on the beach before the clubs and bars on the strip gear up for a big night.

Kavos has a gorgeous mile-long stretch of golden sand that dips in a clear, shallow sea. The beach is lined with sun beds and umbrellas, and is the best place in Kavos to chill out and recover from a night out. There are plenty of beach bars, cafes and shops lined up along the waterfront for grabbing a drink or an ice cream. When you’re ready for something energetic, Kavos has some of the best water sports in Corfu. Think banana boats, jet skis and water skiing, and for the biggest thrill-seekers, you can even do a bungee jump on the beach.

Kavos is fantastic place for boat trips. Relax on the deck with a cold beer and soak up the Mediterranean sunshine, then stop off for drinks and a barbecue before getting back on board to relax. If you fancy a day trip, a good place to go in Kavos is Aqualand, one of Corfu’s best water parks. Around an hour away by bus, the park has swimming pools, a lazy river and some seriously high water slides, including five-lane slides where you can race your mates. The park also does massages and has a couple of bars and restaurants for beer and pizza.

The nightlife in Kavos is legendary, with a main strip that starts early and finishes late. Drinks by the beach are the best way to kick things off, and then onto the strip, which has sports bars and pubs to drink in until it gets late, when everyone hits the clubs. The clubs are generally cheap to get into and feature international DJs and club nights in the high season, including the likes of Ministry of Sound. When it comes to nightlife, favourite Kavos attractions include booze cruises, where you can book a party on a boat with top DJs and drinks on the Mediterranean.

Temperature: 5-22 (°C)

Kavos’ party season, along with its hottest weather, kicks off at the start of summer, in June. Temperatures rarely drop below 20 (°C) and you can enjoy up to 13 hours of sunshine a day at this time of year. Those looking for a more relaxing holiday should visit Kavos in the spring or autumn when you can explore the area without the peak crowds or searing temperatures. Winters can get quite wet and chilly in Kavos, but it’s a great time to visit if you want to enjoy the town without the partygoers.

Rock festival: if you’re missing out on a UK festival this year, make sure you check out Agiofest over in Agios Ioannis. Featuring rock bands from Greece and the UK, the music festival takes place in August and is an outdoor party of food, drink and music.

Beer festival: Corfu has a microbrewery located in the village of Arillas, and every October the village hosts a three-day Gastronomy and Beer Festival. Locals and tourists flock to the village to taste the brewery’s five beers, soaked up with plenty of tasty Greek food.
