Enjoy a morning out with the whole family as you pay a visit to Protaras Ocean Aquarium. Home to more than a thousand species of animal, including crocodiles, penguins, exotic birds and tropical fish, it's a great place to spend a few hours with the kids as an alternative to the beach. As you enter the aquarium, walk past the tanks looking out for turtles, piranhas and angelfish along the way. Stepping outside of the aquarium, you'll see the Penguin House which is home to Humboldt Penguins. See them up close, and find out more about these South American birds before continuing your walk through the park. Next you'll see the crocodiles in their outdoor swamps, including the Siamese Crocodile and the smaller Nile Crocodile. After taking pictures, spend some time looking at the exotic birds, from brightly coloured parakeets, to loud macaws and cockatiels. Then, take a relaxing stroll through the tropical gardens and look out for the aquarium's most surprising residents, the racoons. When you get hungry, go to the Open Air Kiosk and grab a snack or cool off with an ice cream next to the water fountains. After your visit, catch a bus back to your hotel or pay a visit to the Sea Caves near Cape Greco. There are some great diving spots nearby, while the beautiful Konnos Bay is also close. Protaras Ocean Aquarium is open all year round. During the high season from April to October, you can visit between 10am and 6pm every day.
