Located in Protaras, Vangelis Hotel & Suites is a 4 star family-friendly hotel. It’s just a stone’s throw from the long and sandy Vrissiana Beach, providing opportunities for sunbathing, swimming and watersports. Also nearby is Fig Tree Bay, with its shallow waters, providing a safe place for the children to run around.
The little guests can have fun and games at the kids’ club, while you relax alongside the lagoon-style pool. If you’re competitive choose between tennis, bowls, ping pong and aqua games. At the spa there’s an indoor swimming pool, sauna and a fully equipped gym. For a more personal touch choose from the menu of massages, facials and manicures.
The main restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Themed evening meals include Cypriot, Greek, Italian and international cuisine. One of your All Inclusive perks is an included meal at the Mediterranean a la carte restaurant (reservation required). Here you can devour expertly prepared dishes. Starters include black mussels, tuna tartare and bougiourdi. For mains choose from a selection that includes lamb brasato, king prawn saganaki and chicken Santorini. Afterwards there’s panna cotta, tiramisu and chocolate delice. If you get peckish between meals visit the cafe or the pool bar for a sweet or savoury treat. The lobby bar remains open until midnight, with live shows in the evening.
Superior rooms can cater for up to four guests (max. three adults). They each include both air conditioning and heating, complimentary water and fruit, a walk-in rainfall shower and a minibar (surcharge applies). Junior Suites additionally feature a bathtub, a king size bed and an espresso machine. The one bedroom suites can accommodate an additional person thanks to the separate sleeping area and the convertible sofa beds.
Cyclops Cave is well worth a visit, and it’s only a 6km drive away. This isn’t the famous one referred to in Homer’s Odyssey, but a much quieter formation with fewer visitors. They also act as the starting point for a number of scenic coastal hiking trails. If you go a bit further down the shore, you’ll reach Cape Greco National Forest Park, offering further walking opportunities.
Thanks to the hotel’s location and the handy bus stop it’s easy to get to Waterworld in Ayia Napa, whether or not you choose to hire a car. Children will love the 18 thrilling rides and attractions. If hearing the name of the attraction makes you think of the one in the West Midlands, you can forget that image, as this is outside and in the Mediterranean sun.
