The hotel location is a 5 minute walk to the beach. I'd actually recommend walking along the beach towards Alcudia for more space and the shade of pine trees.
Hotel check-in was quick and easy. You can rent a safe for 3 euros per day and a 5 euro deposit. You can also rent a towel for the sun loungers for a 10 euro deposit which is fully refundable upon return. We paid 72 euros tourist tax for a 14 night stay.
Our room, 231, was on the 2nd floor at the end of the corridor which meant it was largely peaceful. It faced the pool and had the morning sun until early afternoon.
The double room is a bit of a squeeze and the balcony is very narrow although the end ones have a bit of extra space because of the curve of the building. The wall between the neighbouring balcony is just above waist height so there's no privacy and we experienced cigarette smoke coming into our room so much so that we had to have the door shut a lot. I also didn't feel safe sleeping with the door open as the guests next door could overlook the room when they were on their balcony. The rooms on floors 4 and 5 had the sea views.
Going in October we found the aircon was poor, it didn't cool the room at all and we always travel with personal fans, fortunately. There is very little storage in the room, a short rail in the wardrobe with no shelf, a narrow space beside the fridge and bedside cabinets that have no drawers. I was constantly moving stuff to get to other stuff where I had to stack it all.
The bathroom has a walk-in shower, sink, toilet and hair drier . There was always plenty of water pressure and piping hot water. Shower wash and hand wash are supplied. Towels are changed on request or once a week.
There are no kettles in the rooms.
If you like to watch television there were some English language channels - BBC1, BBC2 and CBeebies as well as a multitude of other language options. The remote control had a Netflix button but it wasn't available and none of the smart tv functions were available.
We stayed half board plus which comprised buffet breakfast (7.30am - 10.00am), and buffet dinner (18.30pm - 21.00pm) with wine (white, rose and red), beer and fizzy drinks (Coke, Sprite etc.) from 2 self service pump areas.
As with many hotels I have visited, the buffet selection is not piping hot. I opted for the freshly cooked items the majority of times. There was a good selection of food to cater for most tastes, including fish, chicken, pork, salads, pasta, pizza, vegetables etc. There are themed nights but apart from the tortillas I found the food on offer could be any theme. The fruit juice from the machines tasted powdery and was awful. Coffee and tea are also an acquired taste. I took my own tea bags and a mug which I used at breakfast. No hot drinks are supplied at dinner though water is available from a machine.
Interactions with staff varied, some were always smiling and friendly, others not so but it didn't affect the stay at all. 'Angel' always had a happy greeting and was very hard working in the dining room. We found the quieter time for breakfast was before 8.30am and for dinner after 19.30pm. You can seat yourself at any table, there are some outdoor seating arrangements and a conservatory style area. If you find a table you wish to sit at that hasn't been cleared but has been vacated, then I suggest seating yourself there and someone will clear it for you (you might have to wait ). Additionally some tables were cleared but had not been reset with cutlery and napkins, you can seat yourself at these and wait for the items or as many people did, take cutlery from another unoccupied table.
The gym has limited facilities and the treadmill has a low ceiling above it.
The pool was cleaned each morning before opening and there are sun loungers and outside seating areas. We didn't experience the dreaded rush for sun loungers though there were a couple of tell-tale towels left out when the occupants had gone elsewhere. It was busiest in the afternoon.
The entertainment team tried their best to get people to engage in activities and were friendly. The constant loud music can be annoying when you are trying to relax. The evening entertainment for adults started at 21.30pm often on the stage in the pool area. This can be extremely noisy and goes on until 23.00pm.
I've given an average score based on the size of room and balcony, lack of storage space, temperature of food and overall cleanliness. I actually trod on a sliver of glass in our room. There were chips and other bits of food on the floor at breakfast that hadn't been cleared from dinner the night before. This was a regular occurrence. There were also plates that weren't fully clean and bowls with chipped rims.
