We stayed 4 nights at Pestana Casino Studios. The staff was nice and our room was super clean. The hotel's location was excellent. It was easy to park our rented car and there were several restaurants just across the street. The view from our room was really nice. We would like to return here again!

The pictures don't make full justice to the hotel ( bad in this case ). The hotel is located right next to the casino and a major artery so the noise is constant. If your room facing the street is even worse due to the steel structure and poor window quality. The rooms and halls are carpeted and you can see several stains. Furniture was broken in our room and missing dishes, cups, and cutlery. One glass was chipped and the overall quality was bad. The fridge was working hard to keep cool witches means that the engine was working 24h maintaining a background noise. And now for the worst part, they had an ants problem in the rooms facing the pool. Every day in the morning I would have 20 to 30 ants on the counter. The cleaning lady said the problem had weeks and don't seem to come to a stop. For a hotel under the Group Pestana umbrella is lacking a lot of quality. The staff was friendly and helpful in a positive note.

We have just returned from a very pleasant week in Madeira, staying at the Pestana Casino Studios. The room was of good quality, very clean and was serviced daily. There is a large fridge with freezer compartment in the small kitchenette. You would not want to cook a family meal here but it was more than adequate for two people with a hot plate, microwave, kettle, sink and crockery/cutlery/pans. It would be useful to have a toaster, decent kitchen knife and a corkscrew/bottle opener – but these were minor inconveniences. Our balcony faced west with very limited view and lots of road noise. This was no problem for us as we were out most of the time. If a good view and relative quiet are important to you then pay the extra and get a south facing room. The best thing about the Studios was the staff, who were all very welcoming – friendly and helpful. In particular we will mention Helena who checked us in and was on the desk seemingly every day we were there. A very pleasant and helpful lady.
