“Our first experience with front desk staff at Hotel Ponta Delgada”

My name is Eugenia. My friend and I stayed in Ponta Delgada Hotel. We arrived there on the 17th of October in the morning at 6:05 am. When we checked in, the person at the front desk was not friendly and we were not very welcoming. We knew that the check in was at 3 pm but we asked if there was a possibility to get a room sooner. Before he checked to see if there were anything available, he told us that we have to pay extra to get a room earlier but we knew that there was going to be an extra fee. He said that doesn't think that it's a possibility but he will let us know. He left his shift and we never found out. We asked if we could have a coffee or something to eat because it was very early and dark and of course the restaurants were not open around that time. He told us that it will be 12 euros each to have breakfast there. We waited until 7:30 am then we walked to the city to get a coffee and eat a breakfast before because we were very hungry. I was not happy with the guy at the front desk because we were very tired from the trip, and we asked about getting in our room earlier and he was not trying to accomodate us but he offered us if we want to go on the tours and he had the information. We told him that we were tired and hungry and we didn't even have a room yet to freshen up and change and he was trying to advertise the tours. There was a lady there, but not sure of her name and she is a stocky and short but not friendly person. But, after we returned to the hotel we found a guy named Bruno and he was a friendly person and he gave all the details about the hotel and he contacted a supervisor for custodian and he asked if it was possibility to get a round sooner. He was able to find us a room at 11:00 am and we paid the extra fee and we were happy with that. The next morning, we were going to breakfast and we found a wonderful and friendly person at the desk and his name was Dinarte. He gave us some tour information and right away he contacted a tour guy and we went to sete cidades on that day. We had an amazing time. From there on we always look for him to help us with the tour or if we need anything at the hotel. He was able to book all of our tours for the rest of the week. He is very professional and well mannered, always smiling. Besides the drama we had on our first day, we were able to take a tour to Furnas. It was a lovely experience, and we learned a lot about the area. We saw the volcanic hot springs bubbling up from the ground, felt the intense heat, and experienced the strong smell of sulfur. It was fascinating to learn more about the island’s volcanic activity and natural wonders. I also want to mention that the hotel is out of date and it has a funny smell in the room and the twin bed is very small, no fridge if you want to buy water or fruits to keep in the room. The bathroom is an average size but the price we paid for two people was very expensive for that hotel, which we could find a modern hotel for that price. We also took a city tour to learn about the history of the Azores, and we went on a boat trip to see dolphins and whales. Each experience gave us a different perspective on the beauty and uniqueness of the island. Looking back, our stay in the Azores was filled with wonderful experiences and unforgettable memories. It was a great experience with our guide, especially memorable with your knowledge, friendly personality, and enthusiasm. We will always remember the beautiful scenery and the wonderful time we had there! Best, Eugenia

“Lovely staff and rooms.”

My sister and I spent a night here before flying to another island. It was clean and spacious room. On the fifth floor with views of the ocean and hillside. A lovely veranda with seating. Included breakfast with a variety of options. Staff at front desk and in the restaurant were very lovely. Attached bar offered drinks and light tapas style options for evening enjoyment.

“Good Value, Helpful Staff, and a Convenient Location”

Due to the cancellation of our flight, we ended up staying at this hotel, which had not originally been part of our travel plans. We stayed there for four nights and, overall, had a very positive experience. The hotel is not located in the most picturesque part of the city, but it is conveniently situated within a short distance of most of Ponta Delgada's main attractions and points of interest. The rooms were spacious enough, clean, and equipped with all the basic amenities needed for a comfortable stay. That said, we felt that additional storage space for clothes would have been useful, and we also missed having a refrigerator in the room. The staff were consistently friendly, helpful, and willing to assist with any request, which we greatly appreciated. The hotel also features a lovely indoor swimming pool that is large enough for a relaxing swim, as well as a very enjoyable jacuzzi. The breakfast included in the room rate was decent and offered a reasonable variety of options. The same can be said about the hotel's bar service. Just next to the hotel is A Baco, a restaurant we visited and found to be excellent, making it a very convenient dining option for guests. Overall, as a three-star hotel, I believe it fully meets the standards one would expect from this category. Therefore, anyone looking for a comfortable, well-located hotel offering good value for money can book it with confidence. I would certainly recommend it

“A great hotel.”

I loved this hotel! Very clean and lovely pool. I swam in there most afternoons and often had it to myself! Our room, which was a business class was very clean and was serviced each day. Plenty big enough and the only downside was lack of drawer space. The buffet breakfast was fine although they could do with an extra coffee machine as there was a bit of a queue there sometimes. It's very busy in there at 7.35 till 8.15 as people tend to get up early and go out on activities. If you go to breakfast at 9 it's much quieter. All the staff were lovely. Very helpful and friendly. Ricardo in the bar is great and works really hard. The bedroom staff are very efficient and everything is spotless. Thank you to all of you.
